  • Strollers: How old is too old?

I noticed this the other day while I was sitting at a bench and doing some peoplewatching. I understand the need for strollers for the younglings, ages 2-5 that get tired easily. I was seeing quite a few with kids that seemed far too old to be in the stroller. Some of these kids appeared to be older than 5 and some were even too big to fit properly in the stroller, their legs all dangling off the sides.

So what ages do you feel it is appropriate to still use a stroller?

Probably no age - a wheelchair is a form of a stroller, wouldn't you say? Likewise are those little motorized vehicles.

Frankly, I'd LOVE to be pushed around in a stroller - and I'll be 35 on Friday.

My 3 year old doesn't ride anymore (unless we are going until really late, and then it is just back to the car).

I see some kids in strollers that are rediculously small for them. It makes me laugh. Some kids have "hidden" disabilities, like low muscle tone, or something on the autism spectrum, where it is much better to ride.

You can't judge a kids' age by how big they are, you just can't. And lots of other kids have issues that aren't visible, as posted above. So it's up to the parents' discretion.

Is it time for this thread again? Really?

My wife and I were 'sitting' for our friends younger son - he was 2 at the time, but was the size of a 4 or 5 year old - parents are both quite tall.

We took him to Fashion Island in Newport Beach, CA and my wife and sister went into Restoration Hardware while I sat at the Koi pond with him while he was in his stroller - with a pacifier too.

Someone looked at him and at me and at me and at him....and I said, "He's 2." She stopped and said, "Oh.......he's a big boy, isn't he then."

It's totally the parents discretion. If they want to push their 13 year old in a stroller, whose business is it? It seems strange - yes, but it's no ones business.

Trying to generalize something on a very individualistic basis isn't the right thing to do, IMO.

                  Let the parents decide.

Though I will say that if any parents make their kids ride in strollers just so they can push a wagon of stuff around and for no other reason, then that's not cool IMO.

Okay, I have Dr. Pepper. Who wants to bring the churros and popcorn?

We had a free rental with my disney visa card, so we got one for my 5 year old. We were in the park from 8 am to midnight. I've never been happier to have a place for him! And our stuff! I could care less his age!

Because I had something to say that was relevant. But I was just pointing out that after you've (and I mean the general 'you', not YOU specifically) been here for awhile, you will see this topic come up every few months. That's all. No need to be snarky.
