I see that the asking price is $250,000. It's worth a littleless than my place. If only I didn't already owe so much on my own house.

Now if all the members of MiceChat want to chip in a few thousand apiece, we could have our own Walt Disney-MiceChat house.

The asking price is $250,000, but it also says that the reserve is not yet met. Who knows what that price is?

Doesn't look to be in the best neighborhood from that single photo. Am I correct in that assumption?

It's 4200 west and 2100 North. I am not familiar with that neighborhood. The 4 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms are appealing. A house that size should be selling for more. I am assuming the location is not that great just from the asking price. And after all, it's been a whole lot of years since Walt Disney lived there.

When it says "Reserve Not Yet Met," that means that they have some secret hidden asking price, but starts the bidding at lower prices (I hate the practice, btw). He could be asking $500,000-$1 mil for the place. We really don't know until somebody hits the reserve.

That house should be a national landmark!

How sure are we that the house is truly Walt's birthplace?

Disney's Birthplace For Sale In Chicago

I wasn't sure where to post this but I thought it was pretty neat... If a Disney aficionado buys it up and fixes it, that's one more reason to visit Chicago!
CHICAGO--It may be debatable whether a house recently put up for sale on E-Bay is a cultural landmark. But there is no doubt the North Side Chicago house was home to one very special person.
The four-bedroom, frame house was where Walt Disney was born 105 years ago this week.
The house was posted Thursday on E-Bay by owners Radoje and Barbara Popovic. Bidding starts at $280,000 for the home, built in 1893 by Disney's father, Elias.

The Popovics, who bought the home for $190,000 in 2002, said they listed the house on E-Bay because they hope to find a buyer willing to do something special with a building of historical significance.
Born December 5, 1901, Walt Disney lived in the house for four years before the family moved to Marceline, Missouri.

I'm addicted to Disneyland. Disneyland hobbies are expensive.
If I become a bum people are going to say "Don't give him money, he's just gonna use it on Disneyland."

With all this talk of "off the shelf" and "on the back-burner" it seems the only thing that DCA is really missing is the kitchen sink!

Disney should buy it, move it to Disneyland, and put it somewhere off of Main Street. Then they could turn it into a dark ride with the Dwarves mining for gems.

How can someone not even acknowledge a cultrual landmark like that.

No interior shots, so who can guess the conditions.

Although a landmark in the life of Walt Disney, I don't think there's much of anything relevant to Disney Co at this location. For a second I thought that Main Street USA was for sale but it looks like that's based on Walt's home after this one.

The Disney family heirs must be swimming in cash. I'm sure they've probably mulled it over and decided it wasn't worth it.
