  • Go Bears!

I was born near Chicago quite a few years ago, and even though I have not lived there in over 19 years, they are still my favorite football team. Now I live near Pittsburgh and it is fun to cheer for the Steelers. I am always in panic that they would go face to face in the Super Bowl. Who would I cheer for?

I just read (on the VMK Newsletter of all places) that the Bears are going face to face with New Orleans on Sunday for a chance to go to the Super Bowl! Is this really true? Is it Armageddon? Did I just jinxs them now by not believing?

My bf is a huge bears fan. So, for him I hope they win!

      Re: Go Bears!

I was born and raised in Chicago. I became a Bears fan the year after the Chicago Cubs failed to make it to the World Series in 1984. Coincidentally that was when they drafted William Perry, and went on to win the Super Bowl. I always liked football, I just never watched it much before then.

So I root for all Chicago teams. Yes, the Cubs and the Sox. I watched basketball, when Michael Jordan and the Bulls dominated the game of basketball. I admit to not watching much basketball or hockey at the moment.

Will the Bears win next week against the other team that coach Ditka once coached? I am certainly hoping that they do.

I have been posting about the Bears all season in another thread titled "Football Already".....give it a look see.

I am delighted to post here also.

My Dad grew up outside of Chicago- and when the Bears were in the Superbowl I was the only one rooting for them on a busload of New England fans.

          I'm on- Go Bears!

I will indeed Barbaraann! I saw that post and since I am not a big fan of football, I kind of stayed away from it. But now that I know the Bears have a chance of going to the Super Bowl, I will check it out.

Today, the Chicago SunTimes had an article about Coach Ditka. Just who do you suppose he is rooting for in this game? He coached both the Saints and the Bears. He played for the Bears. He took the Bears to the Super Bowl and won. He says, in the article, that he will be fine regardless of who wins. That Ditka speak for "don't make me choose".

What a wimp! I wonder who he is really rooting for. It has to be the Bears! I guess he doesn't want to hurt anyones feelings, but by not choosing, he is doing exactly that. You know what I mean?

Quite the controversy. Some people are actually mad at Ditka. I really think they broke his heart when they fired him.

Well, I can understand how people can turn... I was once a big fan of Bill Parcels but you know I'd rather see him sleeping with the tuna now

I still respect the coach. He speaks his mind. You know exactly where he stands. I will always admire the way that he played. He led the Bears to a Super Bowl, and they can't take that away from him. People really shouldn't tell him how to feel.

So it's finally game day. If indeed the Bears go to the Super Bowl in 2 weeks, I need to come up with a snazzy avatar.

Two more hours until game time! But today I have to bring my 6 year old to a bowling birthday party. I hope they will have the game on!
