  • Missions Trip - <Journey> Africa

As some of you know, and as a lot of you don't know; I am leaving for Africa today. I am going on a missions trip to Uganda Kampala to help at an orphanage during spring break, so 16 days. There is 13 of us going (from a youth group.) This will be a first for me, and the farthest I have ever flown (not to mention the longest flight I have ever heard of.) I will post a report when I get back with photos and such; because there are many here who are forcing me to do so (cough) penguinsoda (cough) I can't wait to tell everyone about it! See you in 2 weeks!

wow! if I had know this I would have sent you some fun things for the kids.I usually send baloons, tennis balls etc. kids love them and there not much in a suit case. I do hope you all bring lots of extra's for them to use and to have fun with.
when ever our missions went to africa they took so much extra's to bless them all. bandages, vitimins, tooth brushes, deoderants, all kinds of suplies. and stuff for the kids. I suport a family in Ghana. and have become very close to her and her children. this is going to be an eye opening experience for you, be safe and I am looking forward to a full report

That is one of the best tips you can give someone on their first big mission trip, or any for that matter!

We are fixing up the orphanage, and believe me were bring a lot of supplies down, soccer balls etc. We are also helping build another orphanage, handing out the book of hope, and were running a Vacation bible school for the orphanage kids, and the neighbor hood kids.

Have fun and remember to be open minded. Plans usually change, but don't let that bother you and help others to have a positive attitude and that will help your team as well!
Praying for rest on the plane and a safe trip there and back!

So I am back, we had a great time, I will be posting photos when my missing suitcase arrives. We painted the entire orphan home, it looked so amazing! We also made bricks for the new home being built, and the VBS went off perfectly! It was amazing, africa is a beautiful country with such friendly people. It's so funny driving by and being able to actually wave and smile at people, and then they will actually wave back and not look at you like your insane. The kids would yell and scream Mzungu, which means white person, it was so funny. I really want to go back!!! When I get my camera, expect to see photos.
