off, to clear the cache or memory or whatever! Also, it helps keep my room cooler This new one I could probably leave on if need be. But it loads up in like 15 seconds so no reason.
Good morning, son
In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
It was pain
Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things... sigpic
Shut it down at night. Had an ol' roomate who kept his on 24/7. Long story short, the computer did not like that and went insane. It no longer works. I've got a sweet rig and don't feel like wasting it.
"If we cut the budget are you going to be the one standing at the exit explaining to guests why the ride they just rode is a piece of crap?" - - John Lasseter
With the computer that we had at my mom's house, that thing would run 24/7, and rarely be turned off except when we really needed to.
Now, with my laptop that's 4 years old, it gets shut down every night before I go to bed. It gets very hot very easily. I've got a cooling pad for the laption, but it still isn't enough. If I'm not working on my laptop, it's not turned on.
Plus, my roomie's friend told her that one computer year is equivalent to 18 computer years, in how quickly it ages and deteriorates. Kind of a scary thought.
I like to put mine on standby. Except when I am gone for long periods of time or on vacation.
