  • How do you Read?

So as I was perusing a few of the longer threads on the board, I realized that I tend to read them as I do books: I read the first page, then skip to the last. Then I go back and read what's in the middle to see how points A and B connect. With books, I read a chapter or two, then skip ahead and come back. I've done this ever since I was a kid... and I even did it with the most recent Harry Potter book (I actually misread a bit toward the end and thought someone who didn't die did, and the character who did die hadn't).

So do you read straight through, or skip around?

Skipping around like that would confuse me
I start at 1 or wherever I left off. If there are many many pages between A and B, I'll skip some. Or read them if it's interesting and I have time.
If it's already long, I'll just read the last few pages... I'll go back if I need to.

I always want to skip ahead in books but don't... If you know how it ends, why bother reading the rest? Once I've read a book, I won't reread it, with a few exceptions
      Good morning, son
      In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
      It was pain
      Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Straight through. Sometimes I'll try and just read the last page, but end up interested and I go on from the start.

Because personally, I enjoy seeing how "Harry woke up in his small cupboard underneath the stairs" ends up as "Harry was the school's Quidditch champion." I like seeing where it will finish, and then watching the journey to get from the start to the end.

I usually read the first couple of posts...sometimes I skim through some, but I never read the whole thread when it's 3+ pages long.

I read books page by page, I don't skip ahead, but h'm a very fast reader. I read the stand in 3 days. I used to read the sweet valley high books in one evening. (when I was in jr high/high school)

            Magazines...I skip around in..

Start to finish. Because I'm rarely "in the know", as it were, for a lot of the lounge threads, I have to read everything to even have an inkling of what's going on.

It was ridiculous when I would go a few days (weeks...er...months) without stoppin by. I was sooooo confused when I finally made it back. I'm finally starting to feel like I know something.

I'll look up in the sky and think of you."

                I read left to right.

Unless it's Japanese (sometimes), or many manga published today, in which case I'll probably be reading right to left.

I don't know anything (regarding lounge topics)...I don't want to. I just read what interests me and if it doesn't I move on...

depending on the subject manner, and how long the threads happen to be... shorter... like a book... longer... skip around... if it is anything that intrigues my interest particularly so and is long, like a book...
