  • Reading Any Good Books?

I just finished two by Caroline Alexander. "Mutiny, The True Story of HMS Bounty" and "The Endurance, Shackleton's Legendary Anarctic Expedition."

I have two by Michael Crichton that I have not yet read: Prey and State of Fear. I have never read him before, anyone?
I have read almost everything Stephen King, (Just finished "Cell").
I like history (1776, John Adams (both read)) whatever. I like authors who make history FUN. NOT like lousy boring TEXT BOOKS!

We emphasize and create a FUN learning adventure in our (private) school. So you can imagine we love exciting and truthful authors and loathe the traditional text book format.

Just wondering. I killed my T.V. and went straight to reading full time.

These are some really fun novels to read. It is set in modern times, but all the "otherworldly" creatures come out and live like the rest of us, vampires, witches, etc. About half the human population was taken out by a genetic virus in tomatoes in the 50s. So now the population is half humans and half "other." There is a funny line in the first book about Walt Disney. The main character, who is a witch, says she wouldn't be surprised to learn if Disney was really a magical person like a witch or elf since he did such great things. Love it!

Currently I am slowly working my way through The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero by William Kalush and Larry Sloman and Welcome Aboard the Disneyland Railroad! by Steve DeGaetano. I am enjoying both whenever I find a minute to read.

Just finished 1776 last week. Decided to read all of the Harry Potter books before book 7 comes out. I had never actually read them, but have seen the movies.

Started Friday, finished Sorcerors Stone yesterday and I'm about 1/2 done with Chamber of Secrets.

You never realize how much of he books you lose in transition to film. But overall, (so far) I think they did a good job keeping faithful to the books with the movies.

Once I'm done with that I'll be reading Roadshow: Lanscape by Drums by Neil Peart. Just waiting for the paperback to come out. Not a fan of hard-cover books.

I have jus finished "Day of Atonement" by Fay Kellerman. There is so much about the Jewish faith in the book that I didn't know about and I really enjoyed it.
Now I'm reading "cloud 9" By Luanne Rice

The Year of Magical Thinking ~ Joan Didion

It's fabulous so far. It's quite sad, though.

The Mice Chat Book review book something about a Prince, the 4th Artemis Fowl, text books of various natures, The Constant Gardener, Disney's Nine old Men and the Art of Animation and Faerie Wars. I like to have several going at a time. I so far do not care for Faerie Wars but I'm not quite halfway through it so maybe it will improve.

I just finished State Of Fear by Crichton. I highly recommend it. It will entertain you and make you think... on many levels. I've also recently read Steve Gaetano's first DLRR book. I have the next one order.
