  • Chitty and Poppins

So, I'm watching the Tony's last night and all of a sudden I'm all, "Hey, where's Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins? How come neither of them is nominated for Best Musical?"

Then my brain un-cramped and I realized that Mary Poppins hasn't made it to Broadway yet.

But still, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang had nominations for Best Actress and Best Actor (I think), so why not Best Musical? Does it really suck that bad or was everyone Spammed over?

(And when will Chitty get a Cast Album?)

Tui: I heard that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was pretty chitty.

Pirate Tui: Gyar! That be a good one!

Tui: Actually from what I heard Chitty was good, this is the first I've heard of the Mary Poppins musical though....
    What an idiot....

Yeah, I do that Twitter thing.

Is it anything like the original movie? That was the longest, weirdest thing I've ever seen! I love the Sherman Brothers, but I can't imagine actually paying $60+ to sit through it in person...

The Mary Poppins musical is in London right now. I've heard a not so good review of it. I haven't heard anything about Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. I'm pissed that I missed the Tony's though! :botox:

You didn't really miss much. I didn't think the show was all that exciting this year. There seemed to be a lot of pitch problems in the performances and none of the musical segments did much for me. I did laugh during the "Spelling Bee" segment, but that's about it. (Oh, and Christina Applegate's entrance was hilarious.) Seems like Hugh Jackman didn't really do all that much either. He did a cute song & dance thing at the beginning and sang a duet with Aretha Franklin (not a good coupling...), but it seemed like he was absent for most of the rest of the show.
