  • A Thought About Anxiety and Worry

I was watching Hour of Power this morning and they brought up an interesting statistic regarding anxiety and worry.

There was a study of people and the things they worry about and here is what they discovered.

40% of worry is about things that NEVER happen

30% of worry is about things that have already happened and can't be changed.

12% of worry is about gossip which is usually false

10% of worry is about future health concerns which may never happen and can often be solved by just eating right/etc.

That totals 92% of the things we worry about

Leaving just 8% for worry about things that we actually should worry about.

I use to so the second one a lot and I still do at times, but it's not really a worry anymore, it's more of a wishing things had been different, but then realizing if they had been different so many things I love in my life now would not be there. Thats' for far past stuff...i still worry about recent things I did r could have done or should have done and then there's the maybe this will happen, won;t happen...i have issues...

How much time...because when the past keeps getting thrown back in ones face one tends to start just regretting even ever existing!

the past is not thrown in my face to often and when it is now I get very angry. I would say withing the last 5 years the past hasn't bothered in the same way. It gets better. When i remember the past now it's almost like it happened to a different person. I would never make those same choices now, but I also realize going through that made me the person who would never make those choices now...does that make sense?

            it gets better...

I spend a lot of time worrying about the 92%. Ironically the 8% doesn't bother me.

I worry about EVERYTHING. I worry mostly about the first and fourth one. I worry enough for everyone in my family. I hate it.

I have an anxiety order that causes me to worry about everything. Sometimes I even worry that I worry so much! Thank God for Xanax, now I wouldn't worry if a comet was moments away from hitting my house.

You should see a doctor, this is indicative of obsessive behavior. There are all kinds of drugs that can help with this stuff. I'm a firm believer in better living through chemistry.
