  • Anyone here ever rent an RV?

I'm more of a tent camper myself but my family and I are planning a trip late in September to maybe catch some of the fall colors (if we're not too early).
My wife and daughters might make it in a tent but the rest of my family is taking their RV and we don't all fit. I'm thinking of renting one.
Has anyone here ever done that and if so, can you give me some estimates and maybe some sites to check out? I've seen some but I'm wondering if you guys have anything better.

    Thanks!

To continue the "helpfulness" R.V. was filmed about 45 min from my house in Kananaskis country.

My parents own their RV so I don't have any rental information. I would suggest checking out the RV dealers in your area. They will let you go inside the various RVs and you can get a feel for what you like. Then try looking up information on the internet.

Once you have been camping in an RV, you will never want to go camping in a tent again.

My Mom and Step Dad own one too and its just not me. I love my tent!
I've looked around in regards to price and its not as expensive as I thought but I still need to think about it.

Rent? My parents OWNED a 30 foot motorhome when I was growing up. We took that thing everywhere. Mom & I hated it but dad loved it so we sucked it up. It was more fun in high school when my best friend came along on some trips. We had some wild adventures.

We own one as well. It's a blast!!

Renting is a good way to go for a once a year or so trip.

El Monte RV is a rental place, though I would not recommend them. Check the yellow pages, there are quite a few places that rent them.

Usually a daily fee and a mileage fee.

                    Shop around!

Oh...And get the insurance! Lots of (expensive) things to break on them...

My parents owned one, too. We went on few trips with
them. The most notable was a drive from our home in
Minnesota, down to Colorado, thru New Mexico (with
an emergency stop in Albuquerque, because the fuel
pump gave out ~ Albuquerque must have some sort
of ancient curse on it, our family ALWAYS has some sort
of vehicle problems while driving thru Albuquerque!)

Thru Arizona, to San Diego, LA, through Yosemite,
(yeah, my dad had a great time driving that monster
vehicle thru those tiny narrow roads around Yosemite)
to Las Vegas, Utah, Colorado, and back up to Minnesota.
On a long trip like that, those quarters get a little tight
for 4 people. Thanfully, over the 2 weeks of our vacation,
we did stop at a real hotel/motel, every once in a while ~
                      just to keep our sanity.

Of course things happened along the way that added to
the "fun". There was a bed directly above the driver and
passenger seat. During the drive, the bed had a couple of
latches, to keep it in place, then at night, you could unlatch
it, and pull it down for the bed. BUT, about 2/3'rds of the
way through our trip, both latches broke. Everytime we
drove over a large bump, while driving, the bed would bounce
up and down. so either my mom or I would hold up the bed
to keep it from hitting dad the driver, on his head. And that
is just ONE of the many "fun" experiences of traveling in a
                      motorhome.
