  • And thanks for all the fish!

Well, for those of you who didn't know, I went into the hospital Friday morning, and didn't get out into this afternoon. Things just didn't clear up as expected, and they would up having to operate on my foot on Monday, and by Tuesday, I was reacting to the demerol and gad to be switched to the queen mother of all oain narcotics, dilaudid.

I'm just home briefly to change the cat's litter box and take care of a few things...and expect to be back come Monday. Until then, thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

Real quick, then I have to go...the wife had left a razor sharp pair of tweezers on the floor of the family, and as fate would have it, I stepped on them and they went a good half inch into the heel of my foot. What nobody knew at the time was that the tweezers were coated in MRSA (resistabnt staph), and that makes it not only slow to heal, but incredible painful.

I should be home and back on Sunday night, so long as the dilaudid holds out!

Well that is a very bad way to start off a weekend. It seems by what you say that they have it under control for now. I recall having a similar incident happen to me when I was in high school so I can sympathize with what you are going through. Take care.

ouch... hope you feel better, and get well ASAP.

at least you got help and it didn't get too badly damaged, or infected.

Re: And thanks for all the fish!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words, thoughts, and prayers.

I am now home, although my right heel looks like hamburger. This, too, hopefully will pass with time.

While in the hospital last week, they decided to switch my pain medication from demerol to dilaudid. On the demerol, I was having uncontrolled hand/arm/leg spasms, and acting very spaced out; on the dilauded, I do better except for the extreme panic attacks it provides. So now I have to take one set of pills just do deal with the side effects of another set of pills. Boy, the pharmacy companies must like me a lot!

Great to read that you are at home. Nothing is better then being in your own bed!

As for the pills ... hate that too. All pain pills, no matter how good, suck in one way or another. I'd say stand the pain for as long as you can and then take the pill ... that way you don't deal with a lot of side effects.

                      Have a speedy recovery!
