  • RIP Charles Lane

Veteran character actor Charles Lane has died at the age of 102 (yes one hundred and two).

For those who are saying 'who the heck is Charles Lane', I have included a link to his IMDB profile but here are a few highlights

He was the assistant to the evil banker in Its a Wonderful Life

He was the bad guy in Petticoat Junction

He was the desk clerk, the expectant father, the passport clerk and a casting director in I Love Lucy.

He was the bad guy in several Beverly Hillbillies episodes

He was the grumpy guy in several Bewitched episodes

His first role was in 1931, his last film role was in 1995 but he actually did narration for the Night Before Christmas in 2006 when he was over 100 years old.

    Basically 75 years of acting.

Oh, and he also survived the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, he was a baby then....

Basically if you watched a comedy between 1950 and 1980 and there was a role for the crotchety old curmudgeon, he was the guy.

He had an amazing career. He didn't just sit on a rocking chair in his very old age.

Didn't he do a taped segment last year for the Emmy's or Oscars or something? I remember seeing it and thinking, "wow, he's still alive!"

You may be thinking of the TV Land Awards. They did a special tribute to him for his 100th birthday.

When they gave him the mike, God Bless Him, he said "If anyone is interested I'm still available for work"
