Michael Eisner is someone who has had a successful start at a company that really needed him. But now, he's completely out of touch with this company's audience. He tries to do everything on the cheap to make his numbers look good to the board who are as out of touch as he is. He is no Walt Disney in the creative department. He's a micromanager. Apparently, from what I have been hearing, he has final say on just about everything. He has no trust in the capabilities of those under him and completely lacks vision for this company. He hires yes men and people who think as two dimensionally as he does. He'd tear down Sleeping Beauty's Castle and replace it with a Starbucks if it made him look good. He has no intention of spending any more attention to his parks and if he had it his way, he'd get rid of them altogether. He's an egomaniac who thinks he can do without Pixar and Miramax. He thinks DCA is a rip roaring success.
But other than that, I hear he's a pretty good golfer.

I totally agree with that!!!
In fact, you took the words right out of my mouth.
I wanted to post that to see what others would say.....
Plus, I've always loved the way Al goes after these guys (Pressler, Harris, etc.)
The intersting thing is this....
If you read about the history of Team Eisner/Wells, and when they came on board, Eisner was always the creative one, and Wells was more of the numbers guy.....
It seems that after Frank Wells died, that was when the company began going down the tubes...
I agree that he is out of touch...
As far as I'm concerned, the Walt Disney Company needs a COMPLETE management change....
If it were up to me, I would get rid of the current board, upper management, sell off ABC, and get back to the basics, which in my opinion is film and AWESOME theme parks...

Another business man who's time has passed and he just refuses to let go. He is the anchor that is draging down the entire company...
He's done a lot of good in years past, but the company needs new and exciting managment to regain prior status. I nominate ME to take over!

I always thought Frank Wells was the creative one? I had read the opposite that after Wells died, that was when the company started a gradual landslide.1st Amendment-Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And maybe I should correct what I said back there, but I know that at one time Michael was said to be very creative...
Wells was the one that pushed for building Splash Mountain....
I also read that they were originally planning on outsourcing the hotels to Marriott, but when Eisner and Wells went to meet with Marriott, Eisner was especially concerned that Marriott wouldn't be creative enough, so they decided to keep Disney operating the hotels....
I think Michael has gotten very greedy over the years, and after Frank died, there was nobody to tell him, "Michael, you can't do that, we're Disney."

He's an , plain and simple. Any credit he might have received for his years at the helm have been eradicated by his actions this past decade or so.LoT

One thing about Eisner that always bugged the **** outta me. The way he was presented on "Wonderful World of Disney" in the same way Walt would host the show himself when he was still alive. I always thought there was something just wrong about that down to the core.
When Walt was on camera, you really felt that you were being taken into his imagination, invited to accompany him on an incredible journey.
With Eisner, and that smug expression, he came off like the loser stepdad and his "I'm not trying to take your father's place" talk. He had no creative spark whatsoever. And no place being on camera in the fashion that he was.
And while Walt had a warm and disarming smile, Eisner's about as photogenic as a whitehead. Blech.....the lovechild of Tammy Fay and Uncle Fester."The old man's gonna knock on the sky. Listen to the sound."
AP'er since 2004. Yup.....I'm one of THEM.
