  • Cocktail party help!

A friend and I have been tasked with organising a cocktail party for 30 or so people in about 6 weeks. We've decided we'll serve 4 or 5 different drinks (plus non-alcoholic stuff) and have a few nibbles (people will eat beforehand).

Please post your ideas for drinks, themes and anything else that might be useful - I need some inspiration!

a friend of mine had a martini party- she provided the vodka and a few basic mixer and her guests brought recipies/ mixers for their favorite martinis- it turned out to be a very fun and classy evening, especially since there are so many good martini recipies!

Make it a martini party. Have some vodka and gin and mixers like vermooth for the classic, and a few liquors for flavored martinis like Midori and Chambord (or variations there-of). Of course have the classic olives and baby onions, and for the fun martinis: cherrys, cut up lemons or even little lollypops! If you dont have martini glasses you can get plasic ones at party stores, cant drink a martini in a plastic cup!

Do a wine and cheese party. Have all sorts of different wines from reds to whites to champagnes to dessert wines along with various cheeses and fruit and crackers. Have some chocolate too, dark and milk.

To cut costs, make it a byob party, but assign the desired beverage. Even if the person doesnt drink what you tell them to bring someone else will bring something they'll like because you'll have everyone bring something different. You supply the food and non alcoholic drinks.

Call it a Cinco de Mayo in July/August party and do it up Mexican style. Have Mexican beers and get a few blenders and make various flavored margaritas and daqueries.

                      The possibilities are endless!!!

Hmmmm. You're going to be in the middle of Winter, aren't you?

                        Two takes on that:

Serve only warming drinks - Hot Buttered Rum, Coffee Drinks, Brandy Drinks.

Or, do a Northern Hemisphere Party and serve classic warm weather drinks - Margaritas, Tequila Sunrises, etc.

Or, just do a Martini tasting party and concentrate on 6 different martinis - 2 classic, 2 popular/trendy, 2 new and exotic.

And a fuzzy water for me please.
