Burglarized - it really sucks!!

Got a call from Brian around 3:45 Tuesday afternoon that we were robbed. And they did it from the time Brian left in the morning until before he got home. IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!

They ended up parking in the alley, busting into the window in the side door to the house, opened up the slider and had at it. We lost some big ticket items: tv, jewelry, cash, and my metal box that I kept important papers in, like my SS card, birth certificate, passport.







Keep your important documents in a safe deposit box at a bank.





Put a lock on your gates. Simple, but it would have been a huge deterrent in my case.

Make sure you have homeowners insurance!



If anyone else has any ideas, please add them.

Brians desk area. Luckily nothing was stolen from in here, just tossled around.


My office on the other hand was messed a bit more, and the stole my monitor. And here's something that shows how stupid these people were. I have a drawer of batteries and gift cards. Lots of gift cards. They took 2 packages of unopened batteries, and left the gift cards. Dumba$$es!

Our bedroom was hit pretty hard, as evidenced in these photos that show that everything in all of our drawers was dumped onto the floor. They even used the pillow cases off Brians pillows to dump the loot, which included cash, change, all of our watches and other jewelry.

Im so sorry. I have had the same thing happen a few years ago. The idiots acutally walked out with the safe and every important document we owned was inside. You feel totally violated. Thankfully for you no one was home.

Start looking on Craigs List and at Pawn Shops for your jewelry. That's how my grandmother found some of hers after someone broke into her house (also in the middle of the day).

I am so sorry, sheesh with your foot and all this just sucks. We were robbed about 9 years ago at our old house. They broke in while we were sleeping and took a lot of little stuff, cameras, game systems, my purse so they got my car and of course the $$ in there. The rotten scum actually took some of our food which was about the final straw for me. The only good thing was that because they had my keys we had to have all our locks re-keyed and Home Depot did it free of charge, not sure if it is there policy or they felt bad for my hubby who was on crutches at the time from foot surgery. We ended up moving because I could not get over the fear that it would happen again.

Hopefully some day they will catch the scum that did this to you. Once again I am sorry for your losses but am glad neither of you were hurt.

I'm so sorry this happened to you and Brian. Obviously, someone or persons were watching your house for the break in.

I'm usually suspicious of unfamiliar cars that park in our neighborhood. I'm really glad I know my neighbors because it's like we are all good neighborhood watch dogs.

And I've pretty much done all of your advice. There's only so much you can do to keep a theft from happening.

One more thing the police told us is that a lot of times the thieves may strike again in a few months because they figure you will have replaced all the items. This did happen to a friend of ours who got hit twice in three months but it did not happen to us. But if you get the alarm system, gate lock, etc. you probably will scare them off from trying it again.

P.S. I love the idea of watching craigslist for your stuff.
