Have you ever seen someone you know or someone who lives near you while you've been hundreds of miles away from home?

When I was about 12, living in Georgia, we went on a summer vacation to the outer banks of NC. One of the days we drove about 2 hrs to see the southernmost lighthouse on the outerbanks. Overall unimpressive for a 12 yr old but after going to the top of the lighthouse to look, I turned around and saw the girl that sat in front of me in math class.

This also happened to me 2 yrs earlier at Disney World. Saw one of my neighbors in line for one of the rides. Had no idea his family would be there.

I'm from Oregon, and we've run into many people we know when we're at Disneyland. Starting back in high school, and later in college. We always know someone there.

My husband and I ran into someone I knew from high school when we were in Hawaii.

Once in college, we stopped at Magic Mountain for the day on the way home from Arizona, and afterward, we ran into friends from our college at a gas station in Valencia. They'd also been at MM that day, but we hadn't seen them.

Also in college, I ran into some guys I knew in high school at a party in Palm Springs.

Yep. I ran into someone from Scotts Valley on the beach in Maui.


I've also been at DL and seen people I know from here.

I saw one of our local ministers at a beach in Tahoe too, but I gave him his space and didn't say hi because I figured he was trying to get away from everyone .

My father is notorrious for this. Whenever we went on vacation when I was kid, no matter where we went (international or national) or how "spontaneous" the trip, we always managed to run into people either from his last company or current one.

The best was just this past Spring. While not 100s of miles away, we were at the Georgia Renniassance Festival. My mom, Bryan, and I were really enjoying the partaking of the alcoholic amusements. And we ran (not literally thank goodness) into my Dad's boss. Great fun. :evil:

The only time I've run into someone wasn't too impressive or entirely unexpected. When I went on a tour of UGA way back when college was an actual possibility, I ran into one of my classmates on the tour. We ended up talking about the weekend assignment in Economics rather than focusing on the tour. :lol:

About ten years ago, my family and I were driving south on I-75 to Florida. We stopped to eat breakfast at a resturant in Tennesse. A good friend of mine (we were in each other's wedding) walked up to the resturant door at the same time we did. He and his wife were driving north.

A few years ago, I was at DL with a bunch of friends celebrating a pals birthday. We were waiting in line for Dumbo, and I saw my little cousin a few people up.... I called her name, and she turned around, along with my Uncle and Aunt (they are from Detroit)...
We were all SO happy to see one another, and it was so weird that we were there on the same day and ran into one another..

Yep. Was at O'Hare waiting for a flight back to LA when I ran into my friend John on his way to D.C. Neither knew the other was going to be changing planes there.

Someone I know from here ran into someone he knew in Red Square in Moscow, Russia, how weird is that? It's never happened to me though.

I've run into people I know while in Europe. One trip, 3 of us traveling together all ran into someone we knew from home. Crazy....but it was college days and most people travel to same spots.

Yes . I was in Virginia beach with friends and ran into a lady I know from the neighborhood., theyw ere staying at the same hotel as us.

It also happended a few times at WDW.

I remember back in the late 80's I was at WDW and over by Space Mountain I ran into a girl that went to my school (she was a year ahead of me). Guess our parents had the same idea for spring vacation that year. :lol:

My daughter, Dark Lady, keeps running into cast members that she went to school with. They all remember her but she can't remember them. She feels so bad when that happens.

In Vegas I ran into a guy I had gone to school with in Minnesota. A different classmate worked with my mother-in-law in Colorado. And I ran into an acquaintance from here in California in the Houston airport.

This past January, I was on a Cruise to Mexico and I saw some friends I went to high school with on the ship, that was pretty weird. Last month I ran in to a co-worker at Disneyland.

its Happened a few times at Disneyland its very easy to do the duck and cover method!!

i live in so. cal and a friend lives in new jersey. we ran into each other in Boston. talk about krazy we both knew the other was going to Boston but i flew up five days early and ran into him like the second day on a busy street!!! Krazy stuff

I remembered another one!

Twice in Vegas, we've run into people we know.

Once we ran into one of our old college roommates (we had a 4-bedroom townhouse with a bedroom that has a dozen roommates in two years) and he was married to someone I used to work with! Weird!!

Another time I ran into a group of guys from my high school who were in town for one of their dad's bachelor party.

Last two times in DL.

First was someone I know from work. It was very strange as it was after closing I was on the bench outside Star Traders waiting on my Daughter to finish her purchases, and was nodding off... I hear someone shouting the name of the place I work and I wake to see him walking toward me. I was not fully awake and it was very strange having DL and my work world co-existing at the same point in time when they are really 400 miles apart.

Second was in DtD I turned a display corner and nearly tripped over a stroller. The stroller was being pushed by the guy who inhabited the office next to mine. I knew him, but not well as he is a stand-offish kind of guy. It was both funny and awkward.

When i was younger we always used to run into people from Home at DL

I ran into my best friend at the airport last month, i was coming home to move and she was coming home from seattle, i was loading my stuff in the car when i heard someone call my name, i alost didnt turn around because i have a common name and figured no one would be calling me

I ran into a girl i went to middle school with at a bonfire in San Francisco, it was odd since i hant talked to her in like 4 years
