  • Any Steinbeck Fans Out There?

I've read this same paragraph over and over (sorry for the redundancy) and over, and I'm not sure I understand it at all. It's in the beginning of Cannery Row (even before the 1st Chapter) and it's the part where he is describing the boats coming back in the morning and how the Cannery's tails dip into the water and what it would be like if they were reversed. He refers it to being "even more horrifying".

If you have ideas but have not the book I can post the entire paragraph if that will help. Maybe some John Stienbeck scholars out there know what kind of pictue he was painting for us. I'm just not sure I understand it and I've been to the canneries many times (Monterey Bay Aquarium recently).

    Thanks in advance.
    Love Steinbeck

    Did I just say that?
