Re: Lilly dog is very sick

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, everyone! I knew I could count on you all. We are taking Lilly to another specialist on Friday. Not necessarily for a second opinion, but for a more reasonable price on treatment. I'm sure the first place was an excellent facility (everyone was very nice and sympathetic) but they just had that prima dona feel that they believe they are the only place that can "cure" animals and they charge much more for their services.

Our first priority is for her to have a good quality of life for as long as possible. If the chemo makes her feel rotten, we will stop it.

Lilly and you two are in our prayers. Our 13 year old, Congo, developed bladder cancer and lived to be 16 with chemo. May your course of treatment give you many more happy months together. :squeeze:

Thank you for asking, Kelly. :squeeze:

We have just started her on a anti-estrogen drug regime, along with some minor steroids. The oncologist says that the anti estrogen drug is the same thing given to humans when they are diagnosed with breast cancer. Her lungs are still clear of any cancer (and this would be the next place it would spread to). So she is hanging in there! Hopefully the drugs will help until we can save up enough for the chemo.

Otherwise, she is her normal happy dog self!

Since we don't have kids, they are our family.
