Yikes... I graduated the year Colombine happened and someone in my creative writing knew one of the shooters, so these things rattle me. I wonder if there's anything we can do to help the kids or the teachers from the school.

The shooter was only 14. WTF was going on in his mind?

at 14....anything. 14 was one of the worst times in my life. I was very depressed and hated everything.

I would say look to his parents and home life.

I barely remember my life at 14. That was a long time ago.

... You just never know with these things.. My dad was born and raised in Colorado and went to school with the father of Eric Harris (one of the Columbine shooters)... they still kept in contact and my dad would go out with his dad for a beer everytime we were in town. I had met the family a few times, but never got to know Eric... just played with him a couple times as kids.. :/:/.. it scares me to think what would have happened if I had been raised there and grown up with him.. (though there was an age difference)...

14 years old.... everyone is messed up then. No one looks back and thinks "dude I was a cool kid at 14."

I feel bad for the community.

                    Re: Ohio School Shooting

I seriously want to know where in the hell fourteen year olds get guns? Is the average parent really so careless that they leave guns sitting out on the counter for the kid to grab when he decides to go crazy? When I was a kid my Dad kept the hunting rifles locked up in a gun safe that only he knew the combo to. If I had gone psycho there's no way I could have gotten into that thing.

Honestly, how is this happening so much? I am not at all an anti-gun advocate, but still. Fourteen year olds?

It's so scary and I just don't understand it. When I was a kid (I'm in my late 30's now, graduated in 87) I remember not liking people and wishing they were gone (not necessarly dead.) When did the whole school shooting thing cross the line? I would have never of thought of killing anyone or taking revenge in this way. Flattening tires, sure, TP their house, alright, shoot them in the head, I don't think so.
Stalking is when two people go for a long romantic walk together but only one of them knows about it.

                        Re: Ohio School Shooting

14 is a pretty crappy age, especially if you are "different" and especially after Colombine. I remember being very angry and negative at that age. But I just don't understand the jump to being angry and negative to wanting to kill your fellow classmates. There must've been something going on at home. The kid obviously had a lot of underlying issues.

                          SCARY!
How could someone even just go threw shooting at people like that?
In April at my sisters school (Now mine to.) This kid was handing out these red tickets to people who were friendly to him and all, I guess he didn't have many friends. Turns out he planned some big thing to try and blow the school up, and shoot people before and he said as long as you have a red ticket I won't shoot you. It was in the paper. It was CRAZY! Then when the cops came they couldn't even find the kid turns out he was in support room. (*In school detention*)

                            Just terrible.

Even though we weren't immune to fights/stabbings/gun issues, I never feared for my life at my high school. It's awful that kids have to deal with this while trying to get an education.

Oh my goodness! I just saw KTLA's report on the incident, where they found all the stuff from the guy. He had tapes and plans on how the Columbine kids did it, tons of guns, and knives.

I am with Jazzman, how did this kid get these things? In high school I had a $5 allowance, my parents knew where I was at any given time, they knew my life. My friends were the same way. They knew our actions, we all had the same curfew in junior high: streetlights came on we were home unless previous arrangements had been made. This kid had access to guns, knives, dude...
