    Mine:
Back Bay Rowing & Running Club - South Coast Plaza
    Monorail Cafe - Disneyland Hotel
    Belisle's - Anaheim/Garden Grove
    The Ground Round - Anaheim
    Teresa's Tamales - Anaheim
    Taxco's - Brea

Speaking of South Coast Plaza, they had the 20th Century Limited. I remember my mom taking me there when I was little and she would have me with her when she did her shopping. It was really cool. You got to sit in this train and it was all decorated like you were on a real train. It was really cool!

I also remember eating at the Buffums tea room in Fashion Island. I was more into the food, but I remember you would sit down and then they would have models come out and show off the latest fashions while you were eating.

    Others that I miss are Howard Johsons's, A&W, Sambo's, and Farrell's.

Buffums! Wow...that takes me back. I went to the Buffum's closing sale at Fashion Island in 1991, if I remember correctly......wild.

And A&W!? Man, I remember going to one on Orangethorpe in Fullerton when I was a really little guy.

There was this place in Anaheim, on Anaheim Blvd and La Palma (I think it's a dentist now) but it was La Palma Restaurant - nicknamed the Bean Hut...and I remember going there when I was a little boy....good times.

There is an A&W in my town...they must have just closed specific locations (I live in Ventura County)

            Ditto those two, plus:

The Barn, Costa Mesa (not that "Barn" chain that's around...no relation)
            Tahitian Terrace, Disneyland
Don The Beachcomber's, Hollywood, San Diego, Marina Del Rey, Waikiki
Traver Vic's Beverly Hills, Chicago, New York, Waikiki
Delany's Sea Shanty, Newport Beach, CA

Given 10 minutes I could go on for pages, but those just popped into my head for some reason.

I miss Farrell's. I don't think there's ever been a cooler place for a kid to have a birthday party. I never got to have one there as we were too poor, but several friends did and they were freaking awesome.

We still have one A&W here (plus a few of those Frankenseinian A&W/KFC things but those don't count) and I love getting a frosty mug full of Root Beer and a Coney Dog. That always takes me back.

Yeah, there is one here in Corona - but not the same as the were. They used to have waitresses come out to your car, put a tray on your window and serve you that way. That's how La Palma Restaurant was.....

The Del Monte Express in Monterey. I was mostly interested in all of the model trains.

Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

There is a long list of places I miss...

The Monorail Cafe is on the top of the Disney list.

In Phoenix: Tom Tate's Garden Buffet (Some REALLY great food! Closed about 15 years ago)

I will 2nd Farrell's. Loved that place as a kid!

Arthur Treachers Fish & Chips. Worked there as a teen in the 1970's, I thought they had great fish & chips. We had lines out the door every weekend night.

haha I loved the Ground Round when I was a kid. Prolly a diffrent one than yours but man, I spent a lot of birthdays there!

I miss one in CO called the Colorado Grill. I think they're all gone. They had the best onion straws. Mmmm.
                            Good morning, son
                            In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
                            It was pain
                            Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I spent many a birthday at the ground Round when I was a kid also. There are still a few around here, but haven't gone to them since I was a little kid. Seemed to be THE birthday place.

The Barn in Costa Mesa is no longer there? Bummer. That place was great!

And I do miss Delaney's. Back in high school I had a friend with a house on the harbor. She had a jungle cruise looking boat (the old version) tied up in the back. Sometimes her dad would take us on their boat to Delaney's and pick up some clam chowder to go. It was the absolute best clam chowder in the world, and a truly unique and memorable way to go to a restaurant. Ah, the memories...
