We're fine. Hope everyone else is okay too. Things just shook really hard and rattled a lot. It went on long enough for Ken and I to both hop up and stand under a doorway. Then it stopped.

It wasn't jarring, just a slow back and forth motion. It lasted so long I thought I might fall asleep!

Definitely felt it in Stockton, heard a very loud bang and my chair felt like someone was behind it pushing forward then the shock wave went through my seat.

My sister felt it in Turlock

We felt it here pretty good here. This is all new to my 10-year-old. She's now lying on the couch, nauseous and frightened.

Sprint/Nextel cell phones are still working, but my home phone wasn't working for about 15 minutes. My sister's AT&T cell service is down.

We had an earthquake in NorCal at 8:06.

5.6 just north of San Jose.

felt it here in turlock from the third floor of the Stanislaus Dorms.

My roommates and I are pretty freaked out.

Wild fires and earthquakes in the same week...now this is the real california.

WOW that sure got my heart pumping....it was long too...I was sitting there wondering if it was an Earthquake or my imagination (I had just gotten done working out and my heart was pumping and my legs were shaking LOL) then I decided it wasn't stopping so I ran out to gather my people to hide under a door jam but by then it had stopped....hubby and girls did NOT feel it!

I'm just south of San Francisco...I hope everybody is OK!

Well I hope all of you fellow Northern Californians are ok. I am sure you are. 5.6 is scary but things are usually ok when it stops.

I was down here in So Cal during the Northridge quake. That was if I recall a 6.9 or 7. I remember a gentle shaking and then it felt as though all of a sudden a huge giant just picked up my house and started shaking it violently.

That was scary. I know what you are going through.
