  • What is Your Earliest Memory???

I have been seeing these threads called 80's kid and 90's kid and it spurred me to wonder what YOUR earliest memory is/was. I have a pretty good memory - it's a trait I get from my late Grandpa Rex (1918-2000).

I'd have to say that my earliest memory goes back to Christmas 1972. I was just over a year old at the time.....I remember that I had gotten this big Donald Duck toy and my Dad had his little Kodak Movie Camera and was telling me to go and play with my toy so he could film it...I don't remember his words exactly, but I do remember him pointing to an area of my Grandma Ginny & Grandpa Rex's living room telling me to play with my toy. I remember that I was wearing yellow feet-pajamas.....the wild thing is, I have never seen that movie......I don't know why, but I do recall my Dad filming it...and my Dad remembers this moment as well.........

So, my earliest memory goes back to when I was a year old - Christmas 1972.

    What is YOUR earliest memory???

I have a lot of super early memories and can cite them in front of family members only to get the whole "how do you remember that?"

-2 years old in Ohio with my cousin, catching fireflies and seeing my great grandpa.
-sitting in a stroller going into my aunts house.

My earliest memory is a rather vague one of sitting on my dad's shoulders watching fireworks in front of the castle at Disneyland.

Mine is sitting in the apartment of the lady who lived downstairs from us- she used to have this big cozy chair that rocked. I was sitting int he chair with my sister. I had to be about 3 (we moved from their when I was 4) We used to spend a lot of time in her apartment. She had access to a small backyard and would let us back there to play. She was a nice old lady and passed away a long time ago.

Two years old standing at the front door waiting for my dad to come home from work because he'd bought a new Volkswagen Bug.

              It was yellow.

Another is watching a Mardi Gras parade.

I have two of them that are around the same time:

                  - I was a little over two years old and at the time my dad was a consultant in the Animation dept at Disney. They were working on The Little Mermaid and I remember looking at the story boards for it.

                  - Before my dad consulted for Disney though, he was working at LucasFilm and I remember being at Skywalker Ranch (my mom tells me it was a 4th of July picnic for the employees) and seeing the Ranch on the hill, looking at the legs of picnic tables (hey, I was just tiny kid!), and playing with a Snoopy toy that was all covered in the hay that they had put in as a sort of floor for the event.

Re: What is Your Earliest Memory???

My father passed away when I was four. I, for some reason, however, remember my mother saying something along the lines of "remember these times with him..."

                    So I did.

My father was dying of brain cancer. His hair fell out (this was the beginning of chemo experimentation-something that is well used nowadays) so I would sit behind him as an infant and give him fake haircuts on the easy chair.

I also remember my mother having to escort him down the stairs backwards (he lost his sense of balance) and I was permitted to carry his cane to the bottom prior.

He smoked a pipe. I remember the smell moreso.

                    Peace,
                    Roo

My earliest memory is of Christmas when I was 2. My parents got me a doll that had batteries and talked and sang and moved around and I was deathly afraid of it...

It had to be when I was 2 yrs old... Back at our old house in Staten Island, NY. I remember looking at a baby in a crib. It must have been my younger brother.

                                    Relax dude...

I was just referring to a recent three page thread that asked the same exact question. I responded to that thread myself, and posted the link to it as a response to yours, hence "familiar posters too".

Previous threads get referred to all of the time. Nothing wrong with that.

                                    And nothing personal...

Oh BTW, I believe you posted in that one two or three times yourself.

                                    Nice memories!

Yes, I did post there....but my short-term memory is shot to heck - it's the long term that I am totally keen on! HA - like old folks I know.....yikes!
