It's between Hayward and Oakland. I lived on the San Leandro / Castro Valley borderline for most of my life. You aren't really missing much by not hearing of it.

I lived on the San Leandro / Castro Valley borderline for most of my life.

Sounds like the Okie Hill area to me...

Otherwise known as El Portal Ridge.

Or Fairmont Terrace.

South of all that. You know as you come into Castro Valley from 580 or 238 and you see that church with the 3 huge crosses in front of it? I lived on the hill behind there by Eden Hospital.

Haha, I was in Los Altos and Gilroy early September.

Last year I went up to Oakland, San Francisco, Fremont, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Cupertino, and Palo Alto.


Still never heard of San Leandro. But now I know!

If you went to San Francisco by way of Oakland, Fremont and San Jose (or visa-versa), then you went through San Leandro.

Got it! It's like LA and Orange County are built up with so many smaller cities that nobody ever mention out of convenience. It's easier to say "near disneyland" than cypress, la palma, westminster, garden grove, brea, yorba linda, etc etc etc.
