I never do the "traditional" thing on the holidays. For Thanksgiving I usually get Chinese or pizza or a burger. Same for Christmas.

That's a really smart thing to do!! Lets you sample everything without the misery!

We had smoked turkey, deep fried turkey, ham, dressing, mashed and sweet potatoes, several vegetables, and because we had several International college students at our house, we had posole and curry chicken. We had pecan pie, coconut pie, french apple pie and two chocolate pies! We had nearly 30 people at our house.
    Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!

I got Chinese takeout the night before to warm up.... sesame chicken & steamed rice.

    I'm such a rebel.

    Turkey dinner at Hook's Pointe:

    Cesar salad
    turkey
    stuffing
    mashed potatoes and gravy
    steamed green beans
    pumpkin tarts

Over all pretty good, but they use WAY too much garlic in their cooking for DH and my taste.

A small serving of each item is the key to my holiday eating strategy. I devised this about ten years ago after a Thanksgiving meal at which I ate so much that I was having trouble breathing. Sorta scared myself. I vowed that I would never do that to myself again.

We had the normal turkey dinner. Turkey, potatos, gravy, stuffing, green beans (Not casserole :yuck:, rolls and my mother made candied yams. She loves those.

The pie was from costco though, but that's ok, I'm not into pumpkin pie anyway.

I went all out and made way too much food for just three people.

Turkey, with homemade stuffing, gravy, smashed potatoes, pecan candied yams, green bean casserole, lemon ginger honey glazed baby carrots, corn on the cob, butternut squash and it wouldn't be Thanksgiving without canned cranberry sauce.

Also made from scratch a delicious carmel apple pie and pumpkin pie. And a blueberry pie from a can.

I wish it were Thanksgiving more than once a year

I had only little things this year.

I made sure I grabbed a turkey leg to remind me of Disneyland. My mother make great Turkey legs, I have to say. I also had some green olives and cole slaw and then later my father made roasted pecans, in which were very yummy. Thoses roasted pecans went quick too.

Went to my sister's house. 17 family present. My family goes all out for Thanksgiving, and I have to brag that our dinner was soooo good.....Everything totally homemade. Turkey with crispy skin, AWSOME stuffing, fluffy, rich, and buttery whipped potatos and turkey gravey, of course green bean casserole, candied yams, carrots and corn, and from scratch apple pie and pumpkin pie. (Applause to my twin sisters!)
About 15 years ago I became responsible for baking and bringing over my grandmother's Irish soda bread. (I would be happy to share this wonderful recipe.) So my Thanksgiving mornings always start with me baking six loaves of Irish bread so that I can deliver it fresh and delectable to everyone's delight.

    Happy Thanksgiving

Went to the old folks home so...:

Appetizer I made (sweet potato latkes with sour cream and caviar) along with pate and spicy crackers (Grandpa made). BTW: latkes, which I have been excited for for weeks went over really well!

Then dinner it was at the old folks home so:
pumpkin soup (so good), turkey, mashed tators, veggies (normal steamed ones), green bean casserole, grilled sweet potato, cranberry sauce, STUFFING with gravy (!!!! I might go and make some tomorrow with like a premade chicken for dinner. I like stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce a little too much), and a hunk of pumpkin pie.
