  • New Years Resolutions?

I was listening to Lena Horne's "What Are You Doing New Years Eve?" this morning......and I started thinking about New Years Resolutions and so forth. It will be 2008 in less than a month, so it got me to thining....so any of YOU have any New Years Resolutions that you have been mulling over - any maybe even want to get a 'head start' on???? If so, what might it or they be???

It might sound silly, but one of mine is to fold my laundry and put it away when it comes out of the dryer. Another of mine is to empty my gym duffle-bag when I get home.....Yeah, I know....silly, but hey, they're resolutions....ones that I can actually start now in fact.......

    So how about you?

OMG, so glad to know were not the only ones who do that. That's a good one.

Generally, I don't make resolutions because they usually get broken.

But ... I know it's cliche', but my goal is to run in the Disneyland 1/2 marathon next year, so my goal is to get into shape in order to do so. But I'm not going to call it a resolution, but a goal.

Dude that is awesome! I want to do that too. After a 5K walk in Arizona on 11/11 and then a 5K run in Dana Point on 11/22 - I am all pumped up to do something bigger...but I have to get some therapy on my left leg...so if I can build some muscles in my left leg/thigh, I think I am going to do the 1/2 next year......you're motivating me just reading what you say here.

Also, was good to see you at Cafe Orleans last Sunday!

I too want to run a 1/2 marathon (did it back in 1999 in vancouver when I lived in canada) I am so darn out of shape now.... since i had the girls.. so that would be my first resolution..

the second which is like the first to be more physcially fit.. (and lose some weight) have lost 17lbs but want to lost about 25 more. and also eat right

to be more patient with my kids..

and the MOST IMPORTANT is.................. TO STOP SMOKING (I have cut down alot) but I ahve got to quit. once and for all..

I lost 20-25lbs this year (don't know how I did it...living up here you end up being lazy and it takes more work to drive to fast food that it does to cook a healthy meal). So this next year I want to make it so I don't get sick as much. Improving my immunity, washing my hands a lot more, and just... I have a lot of bad habits that I have that get me sick (in the cold I walk around without socks. I wear a thin cardigan when it's nippy... Rub my eyes and nose a lot... yeah.). I feel like I am dependant on Airbourne and cough syrup.

            1) Working out more.... not so much for the weight loss aspect. Its far more an issue of feeling like its been to long since I have had regular workouts. The difference in how I feel when I workout regulary and dont is huge.

            2) Working less overtime, this will help with number one a lot! I have worked 350 hours of overtime this year. Next year I will have a life and be less greedy.

            3) Finding another job that I am happier at.... maybe one that does not offer overtime. This will make 1 and 2 far easier. Maybe I should just focus on #3 and 1 and 2 will fall into place..... who knows

            4) be more patient.... way more patient.

I don't really make resolutions either, but I do try to ride at least 5000 miles a year. I've already done that and I may make it to 8000 for the first time.
Have bicycle, will ride. Finished 2012 with 10,089 miles, 683 hours, and 482,000 feet of elevation gain.
              2013: 201 rides, 8171 miles, 544 hours, 480K feet.
              2014 so far: 7846 miles, 451,000 feet

To not be so stressed out!
To take things one day at a time
To let things go, and forgive easier

-Practice dance more (and maybe go to the other dance class offered)
-Get a decent job where I can have more than 6 hours a week
                          -Eat better
-Attempt to gain some self-confidence and self-esteem
