  • MiceChat California Mission A Month

I have always wanted to visit all the California Missions, but never really got around to it until now. During the small meet we had at Walt's Barn last month, a few of us expressed interest in visiting the Missions as well - so I came up with the MiceChat California Mission A Month trip(s).

Each month we will visit a particular California Mission together, giving us the opportunity to also meet those MiceChatters that are scattered throughout California and cannot make it to Disneyland on a regular basis.

The trips will start in February, giving everybody enough time to recover from the holiday festivities (and the Gumball Rally as well). In approaching this I figured that it would be best to visit the Missions from South to North, as the list below shows:
    1. San Diego de Alcala
    2. San Luis Rey de Francia
    3. San Juan Capistrano
    4. San Gabriel Arcangel
    5. San Fernando Rey de Espana
    6. San Buenaventura
    7. Santa Barbara
    8. Santa Ines
    9. La Purisima Concepcion
    10. San Luis Obispo de Tolosa
    11. San Miguel Arcangel
    12. San Antonio de Padua
    13. Nuestra Senora de la Soledad
    14. San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo
    15. San Juan Bautista
    16. Santa Cruz
    17. Santa Clara de Asis
    18. San Jose
    19. San Francisco de Asis
    20. San Rafael Arcangel
    21. San Francisco Solano
A number of these Missions are grouped together, so I'm thinking some months we will be visiting more then one Mission - probably two or three. Therefore some overnight accomodations might be necessary for a few of these trips if you live a long distance from the Mission(s) we will be visiting. Of course these excursions will always take place during the weekend.

If you're interested in participating vote in the poll above, by voting it doesn't mean you will be going to every Mission - but that you plan on attending at least one of these meets. This way I can PM you with the information.

I've been to a lot of these, and if you're interested in history, you'll love it.

Also if you're interested in the paranormal, every one of these missions is haunted.

Yes. I am glad to see that you are putting this together Liz. If you need help planning let me know what I can do. I can't promise I can see every one, especially the Northern California ones, but who knows? Maybe -- I would love to if I can. This is going to be so fun and will definitely bring out the Huell Howser in me! )

What an excellent idea! I think I shall have to participate in at least a few of these. Especially, Santa Inez.

It has nothing to do with the glut of wineries up there.

                      Really.

I've always wanted to go to San Juan Capistrano. I think I may have to come to that one and probably (only because my sister lives in Ventura and I could take the dog, see the little sister, and see the mission I saw when I was in the 4th grade.). It just seriously depends on the weather.
