  • Will Work for Income

    For those of you know who, 2007 was one 'doozy' of a year for me. On top of battling cancer, my company closed their doors in August - great, one more thing to deal with.

    Anyway, when doctor released me to work on 10/15 - there was no job to go back too. So, at that time, my severance packaged kicked in. It's a good severance package and will last through February 21, 2008. However, that date is coming soon.

    Today, alone, I sent out 9 resumes - I have 11 others floating around out there that I am going to start calling on - one is with the city of Scottsdale, AZ.

    Anyway, I guess in an effort of desperation, I am asking all you - my MiceChat friends - if you know of any positions that are open that I might apply too.

    MiceChatter, Goofygoof, was awesome in late 2007 and got me info on a job - and got me to an actual interview and second interview with an organization, but unfortunately, they couldn't pay me what I needed.

    So, anyway, if you know of anything, maybe if you wouldn't mind dropping me a PM, my wife, son and I would totally appreciate it!

        Hang in there you three. Things will work out. Times are rough. I'll put a prayer in to the big guy. I know that He's watching over me. Putting one's feet behind their prayers is important.

                  Sometimes it takes a while. But, good people really can help eachother when they keep striving together without ever giving up. I'm fortunate to have a supportive family. We here at MiceChat are a supportive family too. A family believes in eachother no matter what. That's just the way it is - and as it should be. :squeeze::love:

                          This might not be any help, but if you find a job that you'd like to do but it doesn't pay as much as you'd like, you might want to consider taking it anyway at least for awhile (as you look for something better). Making some money is better than making no money.

                              What would you think about working for an online School? Its like a regular school online. You help people who ask and they hold these things called class connects twice a week for one hour. You pretty much just need to help when asked and grade papers. Let me know if you are interested I can find out the link for you,
                              I am not sure about the pay.

                              There is a very high chance of getting hired! Especially if you have been a teacher before


                              They have Elementary school
                              High School
                              and Special Education.




                              They also pay for you internet! And supply you everything you need. With some exceptions to small things.

                              K-8 Teacher Job Description

                              Job Responsibilities
                              Though we are primarily focused on academics, you must be comfortable using technology and supporting new users of technology while you work from your home. As part of your regular teaching responsibilities, you will:
                              • Know the curriculum in its entirety for grade levels K-8.
                              • Support parents with student placement, curriculum, and instructional issues
                              • Support parents with school set-up and logistics questions
                              • Support parents and students with basic computer set-up, navigation, and troubleshooting
                              • Respond within 24 hours to parent inquiries via phone and/or e-mail during regular work week
                              • Proactively track student academic progress and attendance on a weekly basis
                              • Conduct face-to-face meetings every 50 days with parents/responsible adults and students to assess each student's progress, learning style, and any other academic, social, or developmental issues.
                              • Conduct biweekly conferences with parents/responsible adults to assess each student's progress, learning style, and any other academic, social, or developmental issues
                              • Generate informal and formal reports based on conferences
                              • Collect, review, and evaluate student work samples
                              • Grade and submit work in a professional and timely manner
                              • Ensure compliance with state requirements
                              • Proactively check on student progress and e-mail or call families whenever a warning sign emerges
                              • Alert administrators of any concerns about student progress
                              • Track and verify that attendance hours are being logged and correlate with number of lessons completed
                              • Complete monthly attendance spreadsheets to be used for state attendance reporting
                              • Make placement and promotion decisions
                              • Process student change in placement, as needed
                              • Write reports and assign grades for semester progress reports
                              • Research and create lessons that complement/supplement the school's program and student academic needs
                              • Organize orientation, training, social, and educational activities for students and families including community building activities such as school outings, service-learning opportunities, clubs, and events
                              • Take part in managing a discussion board
                              • Contribute to the California Virtual Academies monthly newsletter
                              • Participate in a weekly teacher conference call as needed
                              • Participate in monthly regional professional development activities
                              • Work with the administration to prepare students for standardized tests (including the logistics of selecting testing sites)
                              • Serve as proctors for site-based proctored exams
                              • Utilize and test new technologies before families and students implement them
                              • Participate in the school's self-evaluation program
                              • Track the delivery and return of materials and computer equipment
                              • Support school administrators with information sessions
                              • Lead parent orientations during late summer and early fall
                              • Create two personal Professional Development Projects
                              • Conduct parent trainings
                              • Assist with various projects throughout the year with colleagues and administration, as needed
                              • Travel regularly within and between assigned geographic areas to support students; attend regularly scheduled meetings; and participate in school activities, open houses, expos, and orientations
                              • Requirements:
                              • Reside in the state of California
                              • Bachelor's degree
                              • Three or more years of teaching experience
                              • Shared view of the virtual academy's mission
                              • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
                              • Appropriate state certification
                              • Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
                              • Strong written and verbal communication skills
                              • Organization and time-management skills
                              • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, and experience using them in a professional capacity
                              • Flexible schedule
                              The ideal candidate will also have:
                              • Experience working with the proposed age groups and mixed age groups
                              • Knowledge of alternative public school environments, including charter schools
                              • Ability to serve K-8 student population
                              • An understanding of virtual schooling environments
                              • Special education training and experience (as enrollment dictates)
                              • Experience using Internet search engines
                              • Experience using a student information system and/or other type of database
                              • An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)
                              • An ability to support adults with basic computer setup and navigation
                              Full-time compensation includes salary commensurate with background and experience, and complete benefits package.
                              Part-time compensation includes payment per student on a monthly basis.

All teachers are provided with a computer, high-speed Internet access, and a second phone line. The school will only consider top candidates with relevant experience and a proven track record.

                              The high school instructional teacher is a highly qualified teacher responsible for the delivery of specified course content. Approximately 90 percent of the instructional teacher's time will be spent on instruction.
                              Duties may include, but are not limited, to:
                              • Orienting students to their coursework and communicating course requirements.
                              • Employ asynchronous and synchronous tools to supplement course content.
                              • Create live and recorded instructional sessions on a weekly basis.
                              • Maintain regular office hours for when they can be reached by students or parents to offer one-on-one support.
                              • Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment.
                              • Implement student's IEPs and attend IEP conferences, as needed.
                              • Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions.
                              • Face-to-face meetings with students and teaching adult, as scheduled.
                              • Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book.
                              • Contribute to student report cards.
                              • Recommend promotion and retention.
                              • Communicate with parents as needed.
                              • Collaborate with other instructional teachers in the same school.
                              • Collaborate with other instructional teachers in the same content area.
                              • Collaborate with Instructional Technology managers.
                              • Attend monthly staff and department meetings.
                              • Other duties as assigned.
                              Requirements:
                              • Reside in the state of California
                              • Bachelor's degree
                              • Three or more years of teaching experience
                              • Appropriate state certification
                              • Meet highly qualified teacher requirements stated in No Child Left Behind
                              • Shared view of the virtual academy's mission
                              • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge
                              • Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students
                              • Strong written and verbal communication skills
                              • Organization and time-management skills
                              • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, and experience using them in a professional capacity
                              • Flexible schedule

                              And here is special Education


                              Job Responsibilities
                              Duties may include but are not limited to:
                              • Host IEPs
                              • Coordinate with individual student's service providers to ensure student receives needed services
                              • Ensure all documents are in prior to IEP meeting (Psychology report DIS reports/goals, GE/Parent progress) and forwarded to parent, Master Teacher and office
                              • Host monthly phone conference with each student and his/her general education teacher
                              • Submit notes from e-mails and calls at the end of each month to office, and update the special education database
                              • Mail a CD of all IEPs to Special Education Master Teacher at end of the month
                              • Available for families on an as need basis via phone or e-mail
                              • Send out AP forms, prior notices, parental rights and IEPs and be compliant with timelines
                              • Set up IEPs on the Internet
                              • Complete academic testing for initials and tri-annuals and writing of reports and IEPs
                              • Obtain needed signatures on all required documents
                              • Host transition meetings
                              • Follow up with any parental or teacher concerns
                              • Work closely with Special Education Master Teacher. Notify of any concerns immediately
                              • Keep files in office compliant
                              • Test students as needed during state testing
                              • Attend monthly SpEd Professional developments in person or on phone
                              • Attend weekly SpEd departmental conference calls.
                              • Update caseload database once a month (e-mail, phone, IEP dates, accommodations, modifications, services, etc.)
                              • Host a Student Study Team call once per month
                              • Follow up on concerns as noted on Teacher and Parent monthly progress forms
                              • At year-end, create a custom CD file for each student. Contents include: IEP and monthly progress notes from teacher, parent input form, reports from evaluations etc.
                              • Other duties as required by Special Education Coordinator
                              Requirements:
                              • Bachelor's degree

                              • Appropriate state certification
