  • What Is The Least You Ever Paid For A Gallon Of Gas

We've already got the somewhat depressing thread on how much gas costs now, but how about looking back. What is the least you ever paid for a gallon of gas ?

I started driving in the mid 80's and remember some gas wars where the price was down in the mid 60 cent a gallon range.

When I was in college (early 90s), I remember paying about 95 cents.

I don't remember buying gas until college, I guess because I still had to share a car with my mom. It didn't matter to me until I had to pay for it myself!

I started driving in 94. I don't remember the exact price but I know it was well under $1, because when it actually hit $1 people were freaking out.

Once gas was under a dollar and I said I had to "get gas" and the kids I was nannying for and his friend (who were in the car w/me) though I said I had to "kick ***" and they were really impressed lol became a wonderful joke

I don't remember exactly the price but I don't remember it being too much less than a dollar.

It wasn't me, it would have been my daddy, but I remember watching him fill the tank of our new (at the time) minivan once when the gas was 89 cents. I was annoyed because the total cost and the gallons meters kept getting farther and farther apart and wouldn't match up.

I still get annoyed at this, but for a different reason, lately. Sigh.

The first time I ever had to buy my own gasoline, I think I paid 28.9 a gallon. Never dreaming that one day ten times that much would be a bargain. It's still cheaper than bottled water, though!

83 cents. Filled up my little 4-cylinder car for just over 6 bucks. These days with my SUV, it's now officially $60 a tank. >

When I was in high school in the 70's, my friends and I would put $2.00 of gas in the car and ride a LONG way! It was probably .50 a gallon or so.

The cheapest I've seen it is about $0.96 a gallon.

                          The cheapest I've paid? I think $1.62.

The cheapest I paid, and it was long ago was $0.63. The lowest I ever saw as a kid was $0.25 at one of those no name cheap-o stations.

I can remember in the mid-90's my grandparents coming for a visit. It was such a big deal for them to fill up the tank in-town before heading back home because it was $.88, and it was closer to a dollar where they lived.

The lowest I ever remember actually paying myself (i.e. not my parents' gas allowance for me) is $1.26. I definitely remember everyone absolutely freaking out over the price. Funny how we'd all freak out about it today, as well, but for different reasons!
