I dislike V-day... i never get anything.. not even a stupid carnation... I dont have anyone to spend it with.. it is pointless and a fake holiday madeup by the greeting card companies......
(now if i get rep or siomething else like it like a promotion i wouild feel different... but it would never happen..)

Happy Valentines Day Figment1986
What's the big deal about Valentines Day? If ever there was a holiday that is strictly a "Consumer" holiday it's today. When I was single I never felt bad it was Valentines Day, I always knew I could get into any "Guy" movie without a problem because everyone was going to see "Chick" movies.
For the first few years of our marriage we celebrated Valentines day, we still do with our kids but we don't buy each other anything. Not even a card. My wife knows I love her, I know she loves me, that's enough IMO.
I hate how there's so much negativeness surrounding Valentine's Day. To me, Valentine's Day is about love... not just romantic love, but any kind of love. It's a day to let everyone you love know what they mean to you, esp. if you are bad about doing it all through the year. I like to let everyone know that I care about them today, including my friends and family. That is what I was doing here. Just letting everyone here know that they are loved. That's all.
Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
Marge: Pink.
Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

I get what you are saying Rainfully, but my feeling is that we shouldn't need a special day for it, we should be sharing our love with those we care about on a daily basis. It is much more special, in my opinion, to reciece a little reminder that you are loved on some random day than it is to deal with the expectations surrounding V-day. I'm just not a fan of the holiday because it almost never turns out well. I could easily go into rant mode and list all the reasons I feel this way, but I have decided not to soil your Happy V-Day thread with such unpleasantries. So thank you for the kind greeting and happy Valentines day to you also.
