  • Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination Trip Report

For the past few months, the exhibit Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination was at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. I got a chance to check it out on its last weekend. Overall, the exhibit was pretty cool, featuring numerous costumes and models from the different movies. There were also exhibits featuring the technology in Star Wars and applying it to real life, like relating Landspeeder technology to the magnet trains in Japan. I enjoyed the exhibit but was expecting a little more and I was expecting it to be bigger than it was. It wasn't as impressive as last year's traveling King Tut exhibit but still pretty cool.
Because Photobucket is weird, the pictures are out of order, but nonetheless:

    And my personal favorite shot:

Great pictures, I know I also enjoyed this exhibit when it came to Los Angeles. Thanks for sharing, and I really like the picture of you against the wall with the Storm Trooper!

I'm quite jealous, and great pictures.

I have a question, was that a guy from the 501st or just someone working for the museum?

I loved this exhibit! I took my classful of preschoolers last year when it was in L.A. and required them to see at least one Star Wars movie (many saw an Ewok movie). We have a class picture somewhere with all my preschoolers and Yoda, but it looks like Yoda is a preschooler/part of the class.

Great trip report! But big question: did you learn anything?

I'm almost positive he was from the 501st because they were advertising that they would be there for the final weekend of the exhibit and several people that went before I did said there were nobody in costumes when they visited.

I am even more jealous now! I've never been able to see them in person. I hope that this exhibit shows up near me at some point.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures.

As to the whole learning thing...well I was kinda bad and in a non-educational mood and just too excited by everything that I kinda skipped over the educational parts...

And I found another picture I forgot to add before. It's me posing with princess Leia while being choked by a storm trooper. For being choked, I look pretty happy. Maybe I find some pleasure in the pain...
