Working the Parks in the Rain??

I never experienced it but how is working in either parks when it's raining? Attractions, ODV, Characters, etc. I've been to Disneyland in the rain and it was a lot of fun. Hardly any crowds and lines.

About the same, the park really clears out so there's usually less to do.

Stores sell more ponchos/umbrellas, and have to contend with 'squatters', guests who are don't doing anything other than taking advantange of our cover and heating system.

Custodial doesn't have to worry much about sweeping, but has to worry about pushing puddles of standing water into drains or out of main paths, and keep the restrooms properly squeegeed dry.

I do wonder what they do with attractions hosts/esses when it rains unexpectadly and their ride goes down?

Let's see, in the summer, we'll run the rides at half-capacity if we can't get guests to clear out the exits. Especially at rides like Snow White's Scary Adventure and MIckey's Philharmagic.
Rain, when it comes to attractions, is a big pain in the butt. It can be fun for the more happy-go-lucky guest, but when people are squeamish about getting wet, it sucks.

I like it, less guests, more noirish. theres a smell too. I used to work in Adventureland and the thatching drips and the jungle gets really green. I'm lovin it the more i think about it. you can slip on the Terrazo and the slurry.

I can only remember one time I was literally forced to stand in the rain. This was when we still had the Rocket Jets at the top of the old Peoplemover/Rocket Rods platform.

We were told to keep running the ride, no matter the capacity and it was coming down in buckets. It made no sense whatsoever.....no one was riding it. I cannot remember what time of year or what day of the week it was, but it was a light day crowdwise.

Well, time went on, my green and blue costume was fully soaked and when I finally felt that water going down the back of my pants, I turned to my co-worker and declared very audibly what we were both feeling about the situation. Needless to say it was not approved "disney-speak".

I hate working in the rain, especially at Winnie the Pooh...its the worst! I don't really mind working at Mansion, because im inside..although it starts to smell like wet dog in the stretching rooms!

In Stores:

"Do you sell umbrellas/ponchos?"
"Where are the umbrellas/ponchos?"
"How much are they?"
"Why can't I pick one up and walk around the store before purchasing it?"

Because of the flooring, it can get a bit dangerous walking around as the floor gets REALLY slippery. Plus, after walking briskly/running while in the rain and then heading into a store, it gets real stuffy real fast.

I'd go to the RR and just stay on there until it let's up and look at everyone else try and dodge it. Worst case scenario, they can stay in innoventions (until they needed a bathroom).
