  • Cast Member Costuming Question

I've noticed quite a lot that on those attractions that require a hat, a lot of the cast members do not wear them. World and Thunder, most specifically.
We were required to wear them when I worked there, otherwise we were out of costume. That's at least how I remember it being. I don't remember it being an option.

    Nothing earth-shattering, just curious.

I think a few of them are optional. I'm pretty sure they're required on monorail and jungle.

Costuming is always out of hats. Don't know if people steal them or what.

I'm just glad they never had my size. I hate wearing hats.

It depends on the role. In some roles they're mandatory, in some they're optional. It also depends on whether costuming has them in stock. Hats are one of thos items that sometimes experience a run by CM's.

That seems to be truer this time of year, when a lot more outdoor CM's opt to wear hats. Several costumes wear the same type of hat, so it's certainly possible to have an unexpected run on costume hats.

The same thing happens with the standard black pea coats, worn by costumed and business casual alike. It's easy to find a decent looking pea coat in your size pea coat if it's July. December, not so much.
