  • Nametag Question!

CMs, how difficult is it to get a "nickname" nametag? For example, my name is "Melissa" ... how do I go about getting a nametag that says "Mel"... there are at least four or five "Melissas" at my location, and I'd like to differentiate myself, just a little bit.

    Re: Nametag Question!

When you go to the Team Center to buy a name tag and give them your ID, they'll usually ask you "Do you go by Melissa?" Then you can just say "No, I go by Mel" and hopefully it is as easy as that.

It also depends on what you put on your application.. I knew a Mathew who wanted to just go by Matt and they said no becasue it wasnt on record.. You might have to get a manager to sign an approval.

        Re: Nametag Question!

I'm not a CM,but reminds me of my job. When I originally applied there was an area that said to put any nicknames you go by on the application. So I put Trace (My name is TraceY). My manager automatically assumed I'd want my nickname as my name tag so I got Trace. No big deal.

But, when dealing with customers or answering the phone I just naturally introduced myself as Tracey. I don't mind being called Trace (obviously) though. So I'd get all sorts of questions asking if I just leave off the y (which is really kind of a neat way of spelling the name when I think about it) or if I truly prefer Trace or whatever. So finally I told management I wanted a y added. So they gave me a new nametag with Tracey and my last name.

My last name is long. And French. And doesn't sound like it looks. Yay! ;-)
