  • Job Fair..

I think it's on the 18th. I'm considering going. I worked on Main St for a while about 8 months ago and loved it but hated working 40 hours 6 days a week until 2 in the morning. I'm thinking of applying to attractions, would it be any better there? I only need 30 hours and I hope for 5 days a week due to schooling..

All I can say is good luck with Disney being completely flexible with your school schedule. I hope it works out for you if you go into attractions.

Yeah I'm worried it'll be the same old 6 days a week almost full time hours thing again. Which is a shame because all of my family has worked at DL and loved it, back when they didn't work you to death.

A little bit better. For the most part, attractions shifts get off earlier than many others. Plus, remember you worked on Main Street, Eaglewings, that adds 1 hour on any closing shift above and beyond what any other location does in the park.
Hourswise, you should be fine. Just make sure to put 'no' on your daily overtime, and 6/7 day week planning form. It will be tough if you go to school, but doable.

Yeah main street was baaaaad. Working until 1:30am when I was in high school was horrible. With college I only school 3 days a week and not all day so it's easier. I'm just worried that they'll work me 40+ hours a week again.

If you're looking for Cast-Member-Friendly hours, then you might want to think about applying to Attractions in DCA. We close two hours before Disneyland. ::toothy grin:: I'm in school right now and they really work with my schedule, bless their little production scheduling hearts.

Yay I'm excited to hear about less hours and flexible scheduling. I'm so attracted to working at Disney! I only need up to 30 hours a week!

                          Re: Job Fair..

Can't give you a definite answer. At this very moment, they don't need CRs working 40+ hours. But you're dead out of luck during Thanksgiving and Xmas break. Don't expect to have those days/periods off at all. That's why you are a CR....to work those times.

But right now, til those periods come up, you might actually luck out.

As others have pointed out, Main Street adds more time to anything.

As long as you're a CR you can still limit what you work to a degree.

And lastly, I laugh at the notion of a "job fair." DL is on a constant hiring basis. Job fair used to mean something when it wasn't EVERY weekend including the off-season.

                          Bye.

                            Re: Job Fair..

I have a question: I dont get the los angeles times, but I hear that advertisements that mention disneyland hiring are included every now and then. I currently work at mervyns and the schedules that we get are random(not just days but hours as well) and nine times out of ten I end up having to work on days that disneyland is having a job fair. however, I would like to try to go to the dlr on my next day off and am hoping this day off coincides with a day that the job fair is. can you tell me when the next one is?

                              Disneyfan,

Just go to DL Casting Center on your next day off. Go Monday to Friday. Even if there isn't a job fair, I bet you could turn in an application.

Question: I want to work less than 40 a week and my availabilty would be anytime after 6pm Mon-Fri. You think they would hire someone with that little availability. Weekends are ok to work all day. I kinda miss working there. Oh yeah does it help that you used to work there and left in good terms. ?

Well, the park closes at 8pm Mon-Thurs. and I believe Disneyland requires shifts to be at least 4 hours, so I don't think that would work too well. However, they do need lots of people Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday, and since you left on good terms, I think you have a good shot at coming back

Looks okay. You must be fully available after 6pm Fri, and all day Sat and Sun for CR status. That is all, so you are fine.
However, during peak times (Winter Break, Spring Break, Summer) you are required to provide full availability regardless of outside commitments.

I saw a job fair today and I'm considering going tomorrow it's just that I'm still worried. I want to do attractions at DCA because I know they close the earliest so I wouldn't be stuck working until midnight or later. But I'm worried about getting stuck working all weekend and working all day Christmas and Thanksgiving. So if anything, I'll be applying right after Christmas.

As it stands now I still only want 20-25 hours a week of work and I know that may not happen anyways.
