What makes ODV so difficult? I'd put stores before ODV.

Probably because of the lack of registers, or walls- and the need to haul your 'store' to and from it's location.

        I figure ODV because:
1.Mostly working outdoors in the heat.
2.99.9% of the time you get extended past your original time. Not always a bad thing when you need money.
        3. Very high turn over rate with CM. Always having to train new CM over and over.
        4. ODV CM are some of the hardest workest, but for some strange reason they are looked down at from other departments, why?
        __________
        1. Good things about ODV...
Direct contact with guest! that's if you like to talk up a storm.
Always changing location of work place. Not the same location everyday.
        2. Free drinks at CM dining areas!

Ouch, getting beat up can't be nice. And yes the layers of fur doesn't appeal also in 100+ degree heat. I suppose any job in the magic kingdom can have its up and downs, but hey you're working in the happiest place on earth!

              1. Try working canoes or rafts in the heat.
              2. People get extended in all departments
              3. The entire resort has a very high turn over rate. We lost 3 canoe CMs in the past 2 weeks.
              4. Because the rest of us don't believe it's that hard of a job regardless of the fact they may be trying hard. Working an attraction, where the guest's safety is in your hands while you getting yelled at is a lot more stressful.

Now, now, let's not have a 'We have it lousier than thou' argument.

There are problems associated with working in all Lines of Business and Positions.

Remember there is a common problem and antagonist that all Cast Members share: TDA

I don't believe that we have it lousier, attractions just don't make a fuss about it until we hear another department saying "oh, poor me."

Yeah yeah yeah, but we all know the canoes are powered by electric motors and run on a track.

I would have to agree with canoes being one of the hardest. My friend used to work there. She loved it, but it was def hard!

Oh let's see, what hasn't been covered-
                          • Block Party Bash CM- Especially during the summer, running around, doing flips, bouncing on trampolines and stilts, screaming, dancing and smiling. They absoulutely soaking in sweat towards the end, it is all pure physical endurance.
                          • Ticket Taker- Everybody is anxious to get in, but someone forgot their ticket and is going to argue about it, or decide the Ticket Taker is an info booth and hold up the line and everyone complains. Everyone has a story of why they should get in for free or whatever.
                          • Stroller Shop CM- "What do you mean I need my receipt to my deposit back for my wheelchair/ECV!?" "What do you mean you are out of ECVs!?"
                          • Guest Control Fantasmic!/Fireworks/Parade- "I'll sit/stand where I want and there's nothing you can do about it!!"
                          • Innoventions CM- "No really, it's really cool inside. C'mon, give it a try. Please? You can like learn about VMK and and touch blobs of lard, oh why bother...."

I never worked it but I can see many reasons why ODV can be difficult. What if you need a bathroom break?

I always said entertainment was the easiest and most difficult role at the same time. You got to have lots of fun, either doing sets, parades or shows. You also were extremely hot, got a lot of upset guests because you didn't see their child first and had to wear extremely heavy costumes, some that hurt the second you put it on. If I went back to Disney I would do it all over again, though, because my love for the job far outweighed all the bad points.

I also did custodial while on college program. They do an amazing job keeping the park clean and the carts you had to push with 6 full bins in it was heavy! Not only do the custodians have to do their job but they must know the park because they are walking information centers.
