There is a huge network of underground tunnels beneath Disneyland, which was built slowly during the 1950s as a fallout shelter in case of a nuclear attack. It is designed to accomodate up to 45,000 people if necessary, and has its own nuclear power generator purchased from a decommissioned Navy submarine. It also has a water filtration plant that can recycle any water to the point where it is clean enough to drink. Although the tunnels have never been used for any purpose, park employees inspect it on a regular schedule and frequently have to evict people who have found their way into it.
The Haunted Mansion really is haunted. In June 1971 a 14-year-old girl fell from a Doom Buggy and was killed before cast members knew about it and could stop the Omnimover system. The accident was never publicized because the girl's family was large and socially prominent in the San Francisco Bay area. The park made a large settlement with the family but that included the stipulation that the accident would never be mentioned. A funeral was held in Vallejo, California but newspaper reports stated that the girl had drowned while the family was vacationing in Cabo San Lucas. A family member (who remains anonymous) has stated off the record that if any family member or anyone who knew the girl rides the Haunted Mansion, the girl's face pops up in the attic section to greet them.
On It's A Small World, if everyone moves as far to the right side of the boat as possible, at a particular point in the flume, the boat will turn right and go into a different section of the flume, which has all the old and "broken" figures that used to be in the main ride, and they are all placed close to the flume, and each guest can pick one up and keep it as a souvenir. That section rejoins the main part of the flume just before the ride's end.
Screams that you hear coming from the Matterhorn as you are waiting in line for it (or are merely walking by it) are pre-recorded. They were recorded in 1959 on the first day the ride was open, but now are played in a continuous 3-hour loop. This is designed to make the ride seem more scary and heighten your anticipation when waiting in line for it.
Now make up your own phony legend....
