I mentioned in a thread a couple of weeks ago that I was going to New York this week for a book launch party for my boss. The party was last night at the Sephora on 5th Avenue.
I am not exactly the book party type, so I didn't know quite what to expect. The party was thrown by Kelly Ripa who is a friend of my boss.
I flew out Tuesday afternoon and my company put me up at a great little boutique hotel called On The Ave. Wednesday, I walked down to 72nd Street and spent a few hours in the office. Since I usually work from home, it was kind of cool to be around a buzzing office for a day.
This is where is gets good. I work for a small company, and at about 11am, our CEO walks around and gives us each $200 in cash with the instructions that we were to spend the money that night at Sephora on ourselves. She said we had to use every penny.
The party itself was really fun and there were a few celebrities running about including Kelly Ripa and her husband, Connie Chung, Brian Williams (from the NBC News), Julie Chen (the host of Big Brother) and some other media types. Kelly Ripa is so tiny! She and her husband were very nice. Kelly asked me if the lighting in the Sephora made her look green and she was joking about it.
The party went from 7-9pm so I finally got around to spending my loot. I bought Vera Wang Princess perfume, some powder, Philosophy foot cream, nail polish, eyeliner, lipstick ... I stocked up! We also received gift bags that included even MORE Sephora stuff.
My flight home was at 6:30am eastern time this morning, so I am super tired, but I felt like a kid at Christmas. I've been having some tough stuff going on recently at home, and this was just what I needed to cheer me up.
As soon my company posts the pictures from the party, I'll be sure to post the link.
