  • Great hair products

My hair get's so tangly all day long...from right out of the shower. Mind you, it's very thick, and I have a lot of it. But, I'm looking for some good hair products that wont be so heavy or greasy (aka pantine). My hair also gets very oily very quick, as I need to wash it evey morning.

I'm currently using Tresime shampoo (cheap but i like it), and Brilliant Brunette conditioner by john frieda, which is wonderful, but i end up using so much of the product too fast.

So, any good products that you can recomend?
Marge: Barnacle Bill's Home Pregnancy Test? Homer, shouldn't we have gone with a better-known brand?
Homer: But Marge, this one came with a corn-cob pipe!
Marge: [reading from the test box] "Ahoy, Maties! If the water turns blue, a baby for you! If purple ye see, no baby thar be!"
Homer: So, which is it? Blue or purple?
    Marge: Pink.
    Homer: D'oh!
Marge: "If ye test should fail, to a doctor set sail!"

I love my Redken. I tried using other types, but nothing has come close. My hairdresser told me she also likes Alterra products. (Going to buy some today.) She also told me that one of the reasons that Pantene is nto so great is that they supposedly use Wax in their products (hense the greasy hair).

When I ran out of my Redken a while ago and coudln't make it to the beauty supply shop, I used the Neutrogena shampoo and conditioner we use on the kids. Great stuff.

I've tried Redken too and loved it for the brief period of time that I used it. I think i stopped buying it since it was a little pricey, and I would have to get it at the salon or beauty store. I'll have to try Alterra and Neutrogena, thanks mamabot!

Honestly Costco/Kirkland makes an amazing Shampoo and Conditioner but its not specific to any one set of needs.

That said as a man I love anything by American Crew...some of it is very overpriced but I swear by a lot of the products. I also love Old Spice hygine products as well, very solid!

I am a hair model so every 3 months I get called into salons and women cut my hair---I learned not to trust product you buy at Target or Wal Mart because technically they cannot sell the same product you can or must purchase in a salon or beauty supply store. On that same note, when buying from a beauty supply store, look and see if they cut hair in that store, by law they cannot sell full salon products unless they cut hair in the same store-

Oh wow I just proved I am a metrosexual.

Cuzco, if you find anything good for oily hair, LMK. It seems like they've stopped selling that anywhere. (And no Salon Selectives around here! If they even still make it.). I've just started using the new Fructiese [SP] - long and strong I think the type is. It's all right. Everything's "normal to oily" and those are two WAY different hair types. It's frustrating!!

But other than using more expensive salon products... what's a gal to do?
          Good morning, son
          In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
          It was pain
          Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I know what you mean, NN. I've tried Fructese as well. I LOVE the smell, but it's just ok. I made the mistake of also getting the Sleek and Shiny. Bad idea. It made my hair way greasy.

Also, it's annoying that most bottles are so small. I use A LOT of shampoo and it seems to vanish with in a week or two. That's why i like treseme...nice big bottle and pretty decent product.

I love John Frieda's Brillent Brunette, It keeps my hair shiney, bouncy and looking really nice (it smells good too) That is also the only brand of product that I will ever put in my hair, not too heavy or greasy.

but I also alternate with Herbal Essence, all the same reasons as the other.

I change off shampoos and conditioners (my favorite conditioner is actually Fantastic Sam's hydrating conditioner). If your hair is oily, I'm not sure if this conditioner would help, but it really makes my hair soft. But, the best stuff I have ever used is Redken's Extreme Anti-Snap leave in conditioner. This stuff is great. It helps make your hair more elastic and keeps your hair from splitting and breaking from combing and brushing. I have longer hair and it has made a huge difference .

I just- today- bought the Pantene for Brunette's Shampoo and Conditioner. I often use Pantene, just never this kind. I will try it and see it I like it. Pantene is about the cheapest thing I can use on my hair. My hair is VERY thick and curly and tends to dry out. So I have to use a decent conditioner. It makes sense what someone said earlier about Pantene having Wax in it. My hair being so dry and wild, wax probably helps smooth it out and weigh it down.

I will have to try Neutrogena sometime. I LOVE their other products. Maybe next time!

We have been using Neutrogena on the kids for as long as I can remember. It didn't do anything for my colored hair, but it is the only thing that keeps Ali's hair gorgeous and manageable.

And I chickened out on the Alterna at the Beauty Supply Store yesterday. Bought the economy (yeah right) size of the Redken Color Extend Shampoo & Conditioner. My hair is happy again.

When I am wealthy, I use Bumble and Bumble Curl shampoo, conditioner and curl cream. I absolutely adore it. It keep my hair tanagle free, and keeps the curls together and not as frizzy mess (my grey hair is completely frizzy!).

When I'm less wealthy I used Tresemme Shampoo - but I'm still looking for a conditioner and curl cream that will mimic the B&B stuff. Redkin doesn't work at all. I got a Catwalk Curl Up creme yesterday to try and I've been trying out conditioners here and there with no luck. So, I'm no help.

I do know that Neutrogena is great to use about once a week to remove excess buildup of product in your hair, but more than that can be damaging - expecially if your hair is colored.

Neutrogena has a daily Shampoo and Conditioner , not just the Anti-Residue Formula.

I use Rubber Spiking Cement from Got2Be. It makes my hair spikey and stiff without hair spray plus, I can wear it wet or dry look. Shampoo I use Pantene Pro V and every once in a while I will use a build up remover (from all that glue )

I used to spend a ton on hair products now I really could care less. Target dose sell Crew they have been for some time now, still about 11.00 for a small jar.

                              Don't laugh...

Mane 'N Tail. You can usually find it on drugstore shelves, and occasionally the markets. There's a shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner may suggest a leave-in, but that leaves things too greasy, so use it as a rinse. Makes hair SOOOOO soft and healthy!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Ry uses that also. I love the way it turns his hair into, well, cement. I can sneak things into his hair and him never know he's walking around with pieces of paper sitting on his head...

Oh, yeah, this thread isn't about how to be an annoying girlfriend, is it.

I prefer Catwalk's "Sexed Up" shampoo and conditioner and Redken hairsprays/gels. I also like Paul Mitchell mousse... but lately I've been using various products by Aussie. Love the scent and seem to get the job done.. just not AS good, but good enough.

I go back and forth between Loreal Color Vive Shine(smells so good)and Color Vive. I LOVE Fructis's 3 minute hair masque, my hair feels sooo nice afterwards! I use Infusium leave in off and on and I like brilliant brunette simply sleek and Bed Head for shine(smells soooooo good) Fructis for hair spray.

I tried mamabot's Redken last year and it didn't work out at all for me, it dried my scalp out so bad and it was so itchy!

Its inferior to the stuff you buy at a Salon...its another company buying the name and putting a lesser product in the same container...pisses me off I bought some product and it was horriable. My stylist was laughing, but she was kind enough to trade it in for the real stuff and it was mas better!

It may be the case with other products but as far as American Crew goes it's 100% the same stuff. Is it legal for Target to be selling it? Maybe, maybe not. Basically Target is getting it from a distributor who actually shouldn't be selling it to Target in the first place.

American Crew says they won't guarantee it because it's not purchased in a salon but the fact is it's really the same stuff. Anyway, I don't use it anymore it made my hair so flat.
