  • One Onion Equals.... What?

If I need "1 chopped onion" how many cups would that be, aprx.? 1/2? 1?

This is why I shouldn't start cooking at 11 p.m.

OH and when you dice a tomato, you take out the white middle, right?
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

I would take out the middle myself. As for the chopped onion....I have no clue! It would depend upon the size of onion, I would imagine.

If you have a med. sized onion it would be about a cup yes.

Well...I'd think part of it also depends on how onion-y you want your finished dish to be. I tend to put more onions than called for in a lot of recipes. Me likey onions.

Oh, boy - I can sympathize! Whenever I ask my mom for a recipe, there's never any measurements. Just "a bit of that, some of this - put some of this until it looks right." Of course, everything she makes comes out fantastic. If I'm lucky - when I make one of her recipes it's almost as good.

One of many reasons why I don't cook.

I always use cherry tomatoes on salads, cause I hate them and I get less tomato juice on my lettuce that way

                    Re: One Onion Equals.... What?

If the recipe calls for one chopped onion, I go for the small to med size onions.

And for the tomatoes I chop up everything including the middle.

                      Re: One Onion Equals.... What?

Well, the problem was that I had a bag of prechopped frozen ones (I HATE chopping onions!). So I wasn't sure how much of that I needed!

Thank for the tomato info. I was thinking the white part made you sick? But I think I was thinking of the white part (pith?) of an orange.

one med onion = aprox one cup chopped.

tomatoes, diced middle if you like it, not if you don't...

and I hate to cook...but whatever..

Just cut it and put it in a measuring cup.
