  • Graduation Gift

I found out yesterday that my cousin is graduating from college next month (yay!). I'm trying to think of a graduation gift for her. Any ideas?

Depends on what she's into. I had people give me everything from Money to Jewelry.

If you know she's really into collecting something or into something specific get her something that has to do with her interest. She'll appreciate it more than money.

      Money is always great.
Gift cards to Target or Walmart (for practical stuff) or the mall or her favorite place to buy clothes (to get an outfit for her new job).
I don't know where she lives but buying theme park tickets for her and a friend is fun. "You just graduated from college! What are you going to do now?" "I'm going to Disneyland!!"

Money. That is really the best gift. She can spend it paying off her debts unless shes extremely lucky and doesn't have any, and then she can spend it wherever she decides to go on a senior trip, or whatever else she wants.

The gift card route is good. Either Target or a general mall one (most malls sell them at their info/concierge booths) would be a good bet.

Money or a Visa gift card.

I work in retail and those Visa gift cards are terrible. They are hard to use and they charge fees. You would be better off getting a store gift card or a general gift card to a large mall.

I like to buy a nice frame for their graduation picuture and then a crisp $100 bill in the frame. Gotta love money, but this way you are also giving a small gift as well. Whatever you get her, I'm sure she will appreciate the gesture.

Ooooh, didn't know about the fee. Thanks for that info!

I like YOUR idea a lot!

SallySkellington...since you're a college student yourself...I bet she 'd be happy to get even $20 from you ! That's enough to buy a CD or DVD or something else she might like.

Not money. Money is cold. If you know her well, give something special from you.
If you want to give her choices, make it a gift card at a book or music store.

I say either money or a gift card. I wouldn't mind getting money, myself.

Exactly - cold, hard cash is the best gift!
I've never known anyone to return it or not use it!
