  • the cap on the tire valve?

Ok, forgive such a "girl who doesn't know much about cars" question :cblush: but yesterday I noticed that the screw on cap to one of my tire valves is gone. That won't affect the amount of air in the tires will it? Thanks. :cwink:

No it won't. The cap is merely there to keep road dirt out of the valve. Eventually you should replace the cap, but don't feel rushed. There are millions of cars on the road that have been missing valve caps for years.

Also be careful when driving on unimproved or under-construction roads. If a piece of gravel gets wedged in there (it's happened to me a few times) it can rapidly deflate your tire.

They are crazy cheap to buy. It pays to replace them as soon as you notice them missing.

If all else fails you can steal some from another car.

I need to go get another turn signal light :verymad: so I'll pick up one of these while I'm at the auto store.

Re: the cap on the tire valve?

I used to have tires that had these valve extenders that were meant to be left with no cap, very easy for anyone to let the air out of them by pushing in the white button...

Aren't the valve stem caps kind of like condoms for your valve-stems?

Seems to me that driving around without valve stem caps is kind of like unprotected driving.

(Sorry, I just couldn't help myself, this thread was a straight line begging for a response)

Anyone want to change my turn signal light for me? 20 minutes, two broken fingers nails and a few raw fingers and that sucker STILL won't come out!!!

However, the valve covers were a cinch to replace

If you purchase a light from your local AutoZone or anything like that, they'll usually be happy to replace it for you! I've had them replace my headlight before, because that one is hard to get to.

I replace my rear lights frequently, because those ones are easy to get to.

So, it turns out that wha'ts wrong with my car is a GM-wide problem that can be fixed at the dealer, or something? I sure don't want to go out to the dealer to fix it. I have to wait for my VIN to be verified ay GM.com before I can find out if my car was ever taken in to be fixed. I'm going to go try to fix it again. Wish me luck. :botox:
