Re: 6-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight
Wonder what he was doing. Must have been out of control to be removed from the flight. At six years old, he's pretty young to be traveling alone. That's near the lower limits of age for Unaccompanied Minors for most airlines.Warning: Portions of this attraction are intense and may not be appropriate for younger children.

Re: 6-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight
I heard about this on the news this morning. It made me laugh so hard because I remember all the times my parents would tell me, "Do you want me to turn this car around?" If he was being a brat I'm glad they kicked him off. But then again I could totally understand if he was scared.
I thought that at that age they had to have a flight attendant or some one with them?:ap: How much longer? Are we there yet? Why aren't we there yet?:yea:

Re: 6-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight
I know on SWA kids can fly alone starting at 5. My boys have flown alone since they were young, a custody thing....I didn't have a choice. by the time the younger one was nearing 6 they had flown alone about 8 times. Maybe the kid was scared, or maybe he was just a spoiled brat. Could be either!

The airlines are responsible for the welfare and safety of that minor until handing them over to another parent or guardian at the destination gate.
This particular child, to me, sounds like they were immature, a brat, or had other issues about being sent on this flight by themselves.

Re: 6-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight
Actually, there have been instances of kids who were traveling alone being molested ON an airplane, so that isn't out of the realm of possiblity.
The kid may be a brat or have some behavioral problems, but I agree that a 6 year old should NOT be allowed to travel alone like that. Kids need parental guidance, they lack the maturity and experience to always know how to behave or react. I can't fathom how anyone would think a 6 year old being, for the most part, unsupervised is acceptable. In a world filled with hate, we must still dare to hope. In a world filled with anger, we must still dare to comfort. In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream. And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe. -Michael Jackson

Re: 6-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight
I'm writing from the viewpoint as a 6 year old from my life experience and at that age felt I was raising myself, could hardly wait to reach adulthood and was embarassed by my parents at times. This was 1952.
Children of that same age today are much more immature and coddled than my generation ever was.
Not having children or wanting little contact with them probably puts me "out there" as far as my impressions of this news story. I still think many of the problems we face today are simply a result of having generations growing up who haven't been taught how to behave, pay attention, and practice good manners.

Re: 6-Year-Old Kicked Off Flight
When my now 17 year old son was 3, he threw such a fit on an airplane that a airline security officer came on board and told my wife and I that he had to leave the plane. He said that we could stay, that only he had to go.
Needless to say our whole family, (I have 3 kids), left the plane. It promptly left for Florida with our luggage. I ended up renting a car at the airport, drove home, threw some toys and food in the car and drove 14 hours straight to Sarasota.
It turned out to be a very fun vacation... One needs to be able to flex at times.
Honestly, I don't blame the airline for doing this. My son was completely uncontrolable. I think the stewardess must had called security just after the incident where while trying to clam my son down, she gave him one of those little metal pins in the shape of pilot wings. He threw it at her hitting her right in the center of her forehead.
