It's been so long since the cigarette broadcast advertising ban (1970) that it's hard to remember that these kinds of spots were commonplace in the 50's and early 60's.

This one's a classic. Imagine how women's groups, among others, would respond today...

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

You have to remember... the Flintstones were *not* a kid's cartoon when the shows were first aired on prime time. It was geared at adults, thus why the subjects of the shows usually paralleled things you'd see in The Honeymooners rather than Howdy Doody.

I'm old enough to have watched the Flintstones when they first aired.

But I had forgotten that they did a commercial for cigarettes.

          How things have changed.

This has been a Filmways presentation dahling.
