  • Broadcaster John Madden Retires

John Madden has announced his retirement today from the broadcast booth. I know that I will miss him. I have always enjoyed the way that he called a football game. I don't understand the finer points of the game, and he always made it entertaining for me.

My Dad is cheering from Heaven right now....the man drove him insane! Hubby never cared for him either. I have no opinion either way (not into sports), but sure have heard enough about the man. May he enjoy his retirement years.

He's going to pull a Brett Favre! (seemingly his favorite alltime quarterback)

Like him or hate him, the man is a sportscasting legend. I learned a lot from listening to him in the same way that I have from Vin Scully and Chick Hearn.

It's good that he didn't slip considerably before he called it a career. I'll miss his commentary.

                  About time.

I always hated when NBC would broadcast the Chargers game. It always seemed like Madden would just talk in circles and state the obvious the whole game.

Hope he has a great retirement.

Dang! I thought I'd be the only one with the "about time" message.

Me and hubby always get a big laugh when he's doing the commentary. Him and Al drive us nuts.

Madden...."yeah, that's definately a touchdown. They're gonna give it to him."

                    Al..."Yeah, I agree, John."

Referee..."after reviewing the tape, he's two yards short, and it is not a touchdown."

                    Madden..."good call. Couldn't agree more."

Al..."yeah.....he definately had two yards to go. Maybe they'll make it this time."

Poor guy...I don't mean to pick, it's just funny. He's worked hard...he's become a football legend. And I hope he enjoys his retirement.
