  • ESPN - Did they cancel Around the Horn and PTI???

I haven't been watching during the day too much lately but now I'm seeing that my two favorite ESPN shows are not on and instead SportsNation is on.

I don't see them on the schedule at all. And this SportsNation thing kinda sucks.

It looks like they have cancelled them. They're both not on ESPN's TV listings anymore.

You'd figure it's a cost cutting move having to only pay 2 people instead of 6 (ATH & PTI combined)

Maybe both shows are on hiatus until the fall.
They might have been canceled too.
I was a fan of PTI when I could watch it.

PTI is ok, but Around the Horn sucks pretty bad, and it has a reputation for wanting only certain viewpoints heard. Jason Whitlock got released for saying things that needed to be said but no one on ESPN wanted to hear.
              SportsNation sucks, too.

I like reading Jason Whitlock on foxsports.com. He tends to overplay the race card sometimes, but he's brutally honest and very good at cutting through the BS in sports.

Glad to see PTI isn't going away. I don't get to see it a lot, but when I do, I really enjoy it.

I love both shows. And I am going through withdrawals.

But if folks saw the shows last Friday - there were several references to having next week off, and at the end both shows said we're off next week, and we'll be back on the 27th.

They usually both take a week off around this time of year, and at the end of the year as well.

                    Easy, now.

                      Phew, that's a relief.

SportsNation is the worst thing to air on ESPN since the National Scrabble Tournament (I woke up one Sunday morning and saw it on).

It's certainly beneath the talents of someone like Colin Cowherd - who on ESPN radio every morning is one of the smarter and more talented talk show hosts around.

This show recently has been running in the 1PM Pacific hour on ESPN-2. I've given it several chances. I don't know if it's his co-host, or its really corny and tacky at times format, but I've had enough.

And I'm something of a junkie for these kinds of things. And I have no life. Both ATH and PTI are on my automatic record DVR list, and of late I've watched each episode.

And I am lost without the pearls of wisdom from Woody Paige's blackboard.

I think he exposes the race card more than he plays it. I see him playing more the "stop embarrassing us and our race" card than trying to correct perceived injustices.

I like Sportsnation, only because that Michelle chick is cute. Thank god this is only a week thing, because it comes on ESPN2...and not many ppl watch ESPN2 lmao

She may be cute, but to me the show's an embarrassment to Colin Cowherd's talent and ability at least as I've heard and seen it on his radio show (which is simulcast on ESPN "U").

To me, Disney has made it where there's not all that much difference between the "mother ship" and ESPN2 - SportsCenter and some of the better games wind up up there now on a fairly regular basis.

And most days they also have a rerun of ATH/PTI from 3-4pm.

I'll be looking forward to Woody Paige's blackboard homilies on Monday.
