  • NBA 2010-2011 Season

Next month, the NBA season will be on once again!

This looks like it'll be an exciting season.

Some notable things to look out for:

Miami Heat: The Miami Thrice (Lebron, D-Wade and Bosh) are expected to rain hell on the Eastern Conference.

Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers didn't make any notable moves but have strenghten the bench with Matt Barnes, Steve Blake and Theo Ratliff as well as Derrick Character and Deven Ebanks.

Los Angeles Clippers: Blake Griffin will finally take the court and might be able to clinch a Playoff Berth

Boston Celtics: While most of the players are already old, the development of Rajon Rondo and just acquring Nate Robinson and others midway last season will mean that they aren't ready to accept defeat just yet.

Cleveland Cavaliers: Even with Byron Scott, expect them to suck this season.

Milwaukee Bucks: No doubt the sleeper hit of the season, the Bucks are now confident to go for another playoff run.

Oklahoma City Thunder: The Thunder have made a statement last season, expect them to become a legiminate contender for the Championship starting this season.

My predicted end of season standings:

    Western Conference:

    1.) Los Angeles Lakers
    2.) Oklahoma City Thunder
    3.) Dallas Mavericks
    4.) San Antonio Spurs
    5.) Phoenix Suns
    6.) Portland Trailblazers
    7.) Denver Nuggets
    8.) Los Angeles Clippers

    Eastern Conference:

    1.) Miami Heat
    2.) Orlando Magic
    3.) Atlanta Hawks
    4.) Charlotte Bobcats
    5.) Milwaukee Bucks
    6.) Boston Celtics
    7.) New York Knicks
    8.) Chicago Bulls

    I'm ready. Are you?

You'll wake me for the playoffs (like last year), right?

Keep an eye on the former Sonics. Both Westbrook and Durant had great WIBA Championship runs.

Expect the Heat Three to get fouled hard, all night, every night. Implosion around the All-Star Game. At the All-Star game, expect the Triple Snub, like what Isaiah did to Jordan.

The talent is there, no doubt; but look for them to have a few struggles early on as they try to find and establish their rhythm.

Also, sometimes it's tough to be the team that every single other team gets pumped up for......Miami, more than any team in recent history, will be that team.

Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers didn't make any notable moves but have strenghten the bench with Matt Barnes, Steve Blake and Theo Ratliff as well as Derrick Character and Deven Ebanks.
I think the Lakers got better this summer.....but do the stars still have the desire, the proverbial -eye of the tiger- ???

Los Angeles Clippers: Blake Griffin will finally take the court and might be able to clinch a Playoff Berth
They might be a little better this year but don't get too excited.........after all they are The Clippers! The only team in the NBA that plays more away games than home games

Boston Celtics: While most of the players are already old, the development of Rajon Rondo and just acquring Nate Robinson and others midway last season will mean that they aren't ready to accept defeat just yet.
If Nate can go a whole season without imploding Boston just may have enough to get over the top this year....with a little luck from the injury-free fairy

Cleveland Cavaliers: Even with Byron Scott, expect them to suck this season.
I think they may surprise a few people.....no, they're not going to finish in the top 4 but I wouldn't be shocked to see them make the playoffs.

Milwaukee Bucks: No doubt the sleeper hit of the season, the Bucks are now confident to go for another playoff run.
Yep, but don't discount Chicago either......or Atlanta for that matter.

Oklahoma City Thunder: The Thunder have made a statement last season, expect them to become a legiminate contender for the Championship starting this season.
Perhaps, but lets not forget about Portland......The Blazers had the exact same record as the Thunder last year. The Thunder had the least number of injuries of any team last year compared to the Blazers who had the most of any team that made the playoffs.....even with all those injuries the Blazers not only managed to record the same number of regular season wins as the Thunder but they also beat the Thunder one more time than the Thunder beat them.

My predicted end of season standings:

      Western Conference:

      1) Los Angeles Lakers
      2) Portland Trail Blazers
      3) Dallas Mavericks
      4) Oklahoma City Thunder
      5) Houston Rockets
      6) San Antonio Spurs
      7) Denver Nuggets
      8) Phoenix Suns

      Eastern Conference:

      1) Boston Celtics
      2) Orlando Magic
      3) Miami Heat
      4) Chicago Bulls
      5) Milwaukee Bucks
      6) Charlotte Bobcats
      7) Atlanta Hawks
      8) Cleveland Cavaliers

      I am so ready!!!!!

Looks like the 2 time defending champions are underdogs this season.

Good to fly under the radar.

Chicago on the bottom? I must admit that I don't watch much basketball. For me it's hockey season right now. Baseball season was a bust, but then it's been that way for years now. The Bears can't protect their quarterback, and I watch the football games, but I don't see them going anywhere this year again.

            Update to the season.

Lakers look to be the team to beat.

Portland are suffering from injuries and the Heat are just suffering!

The Heat can keep right on suffering, for all I care. They'll be fine when it counts.

And poor, poor Greg Oden. First Portland drafts an injury-prone Bill Walton. At least they got a title out of him.

Then there was the drafting of Sam Bowie, ahead of some guy named Jordan.

And this time, they could have had Durant.

They were cursed before, but something bad really happened to that team in the fourth quarter of game seven of the 2000 NBA Western Conference finals at Staples Center.

They have never been the same, since then.

Even though the Lakers are doing good, I'm finding it hard to get into basketball. Once football is over it will be easier.

So anyone want to start the "Pat Riley to the bench in Miami" pool?

I am guessing that "Coach Spo" won't be the coach "no mo", by the time the Heat comes to L A on Christmas Day.

Some notable recent trades that occured this month:

3-Team trade occurs between LAL, NJN and HOU

LA sends Sasha to New Jersey for Joe Smith while Houston gets Terrence Williams from New Jersey to give New Jersey some draft picks.

The Orlando Magic made 2 trades with 2 teams yesterday as well to revamp their roster.

Orlando traded Rashard Lewis to Washington to get Gilbert Arenas.

Orlando traded Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat and Mickael Pietrus to get Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, and Earl Clark.

Guess I was a bit premature.

Miami has turned it around since that post of nearly a month ago.

Since I missed that great Celtics-Knicks game the other night, I made it a point to watch the Knicks-Heat game Friday night.

That wasn't nearly as good a game, but it showed what Miami can do when it wants to, especially in defense.

I do think that for once, the future is brighter in New York.

PS...With the several moves they made in the off-season and now, no one can accuse the Lakers of resting on their laurels, so to speak.

So apparently Denver is willing to trade Carmelo Anthony, but theres a price to pay. Denver wants 5 1st round picks for Carmelo. New Jersey, the team that wants to acquire him is kind of hesitant, but I think they'll be willing to do it. They seem determined to get him before another team does. Lets see which team is willing to do a trade.

Miami Heat are pretty good. I saw them in Phoenix last month and their defense was superb. They are underrated in that category. Reports are saying that the Suns are on the fence with the idea of trading Steve Nash. If things don't turn around within the next couple of weeks he may be on the trading block.

The Lakers pound an undermanned Detroit team by 25, and hyperventilating columnists and sports talk radio hosts across Southern California, are breathing again.

When it rains three drops here...it's "stormwatch team coverage" on the news. When the Lakers lose at least two in a row, it's "ohmigod, the Lakers are done, whatever shall we do???"

                            What a joke.

The Carmelo Anthony talks appear to be at an end. A proposed deal is getting close to being finalized.

It'll be a 3 team trade between Denver, Detriot and New Jersey

Denver Nuggets -> New Jersey Nets

Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Anthony Carter and Shelden Williams

New Jersey Nets -> Denver Nuggets

2 1st round picks, Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Anthony Morrow, Ben Uzoh, Stephen Graham, and Quentin Ross

Detriot Pistons -> New Jersey Nets

                              Richard Hamilton

New Jersey Nets -> Detriot Pistons

                              Troy Murphy and Johan Petro
