Re: Talking Baseball: The Postseason Thread

I am used to staying up late, and watching/listening to the games. Of course, it is hard for the people who have to go to work tomorrow.

This is why I've said all along that major league baseball does itself such a disservice, by allowing TV to dictate these late start times.

If you are trying to seel your sport to a new generation, which they clearlky need to to do, it doesn't help when your showcase games like these playoffs and even the World Series at start times ranging from 8:35 to 10PM Eastern.

They need to start the games earlier, at least an hour. If you start much earlier than that you'll lose the West Coast audience, still trying to get off the freeway.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Ron Santo just called the relief pitcher for the Diamondbacks, a "hot dog". I think the frustration is getting to him.

Actually he's a Papa Grande. (which apparently means "big potato" in Spanish even tho it's supposed to mean "Big Daddy"). Now, if the DBacks would stop making errors maybe we could end this thing and go to bed!

Thanks for not calling them Cubbies.

I don't like seeing both teams down 2-0. Sweeps are no fun in the postseason.

Oh that would be so embarrassing. Especially the fact that the Sox are recent World Series winners. If the Cubs get swept the Sox fans will have a field day.

And what was the ChiSox slogan this year?

                    "We are Chicago Baseball."

But it wasn't their town. Or their year.

The Sox have been 2nd in popularity behind the Cubs for a very long time. However they did get to the Series, and win it. The Chicago Cubs have a lot of catching up to do, and that is a fact, before they can do the same.

Is this derogatory to Cubs fans? My inlaws are from Chicago and they are the "Cubbies" to them.

No, It's just my personal preference.

The majority of Cubs fans call them Cubbies. I just don't like the term.

Whew! I wouldn't want to offend anyone's team (not sarcasm). I think Cubbies is kinda cute!

That's it! People think they are cute. Cute means they are never taken serious. They are known as the loveable losers. Don't mind me, I stayed up late last night watching them lose again.

It's hard being a Cubs fan. However, I do think that the Cubs have the most loyal fans in the game.

And Barb and myself are on the same boat. Down 0-2, and the boat's name is the RMS Titanic.

What we need to be on is the Disney Magic.

The Cubs are at least going to play at home. Phillies look dead.

I'm holding out hope for the Cubs, but i think the tone has been set in the NL. But great comebacks are what make Oct great so fingers crossed for no sweeps.

As for the AL, things are still hazy there. Stay tuned...

I am getting ready to watch the 2nd game between the Yankees and the Inidans. I am actually enjoying all the different games. It's hard to believe that it is October. The baseball season, as well as the entire year of 2007 has just flown by.
