Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Yankees and Twins are in trade talks for Johan Santana nasty lefty and former cy young winner. If they Yankees can pull it off that would be a true ace. SUCK!!!

The Twins have been busy lately. With the Santana talks plus there's a rumor that Minnesota would send Jason Bartlett, Matt Garza, and Juan Rincon to the Rays for Delmon Young and two other players.

This would be a good trade for both teams in my opinion. Minnesota needs another OF and Young has talent (even with some issues off the field).

The Rays also unveiled their new waterfront stadium. It kinda reminds me of old Olympic Stadium in Montreal with the roof cables and such.

Here's a link to some renderings:

They really like the whole tilted stadium thing there huh? Looks like a great location, the cables and things seem a bit much though.

Also, very excited about Delmon Young being a Twin soon. The Twins would also get SS Brendan Harris and OF Jason Pridie. Pridie was with the Twins in spring training of 2006 as a Rule 5 pick, but since they didn't keep him on the 25 man roster, they had to let him go, so they've liked him for awhile.

It's official. The Twins pick up Delmon Young from Tampa for Matt Garza in a six-player deal.

Kind of surprising that the Rays were willing to trade Young, but they add depth to the rotation with Garza and a good shortstop in Bartlett. Good trade for both teams.

Garza won't be better than a No. 2 starter and even then he's going to work to get to that point, Bartlett isn't as good as many seem to think he is based on his numbers.

If Young can reach his potential at all, the Twins got a steal.

Agreed Anders. Why are so many top notch prospects problems? Young was the top rated prospect just a year ago. Sad that a team that needs great young players has to trade someone based on attitude.

his "attitude" problems are from a few years ago even, when he was like 19! Who doesn't do stupid things when they're 19? Granted, it wasn't smart to throw a bat at the umpire, but it's not like he keeps doing it. He screwed up, big deal, show me a 19 y/o that hasn't.

I agree that most 19 y/os do stupid things, but throwing a bat at the umpire? That's something a 5 year old doesn't even do.

Anyway, I hope he does well for you guys.

he served his time with his suspension. I'm sure he learned from it, if he didn't then I'm sure he won't be around too long.

                              Lots of news today!

New York Mets get C Brian Schneider and OF Ryan Church; OF Lastings Milledge (who also has talent, but some issues off the field) goes to the Nationals.

Tampa Bay signs P Troy Percival to a two-year deal.

                              Detroit re-signs P Kenny Rogers to a one-year deal.

Houston reportedly agrees to terms with 2B Kaz Matsui.

The Nationals obtain OF Elijah Dukes from Tampa. Talk about a handful of an outfield for Washington with Dukes and Lastings Milledge. Hopefully things will turn around for those two.

The Mets getting a catcher like Schneider is a huge coy for them after losing Lo Duca. He is a tough nosed hard core catcher who can handle a staff and tell them when to shut it. He may need to speak spanish though at the rate the staff is changing. Look for Livo Hernandez to join his brother, and Pedro with Oliver Perez on that staff. Lastly do not count them out of the Santana trade and you have an all Latin Staff. Nice.

Wow is right. Hearing the complains from the Dodgers, Angels and Giants as to what the Marlins were asking for, I bet Detroit gave a bundle. With Willis coming too you can bet on that.

Peavy closing in on biggest deal in Padres history

                                        SAN DIEGO, 6:56 p.m. Dec. 4 (AP)
When he returns from a hunting trip, NL Cy Young winner Jake Peavy will bag the biggest contract by far in Padres history. Once the deal is finalized, the right-hander will be guaranteed $52 million from a three-year extension that will run from 2010-12. Should the team exercise a $22 million option for 2013, the deal will be worth $70 million.

                                        Full story here:
                                        http://www.signonsandiego.com/sports...res-peavy.html

This is really amazing to me for a few reasons - The Padres seem to dump players once they get really good for either players who are really past thier prime or unproven rookies. The Padres have never had a history of paying for big-time contracts and Peavy was not saying good things about the Padres during the season.

But hey - I am ohso happy the the unanimous Cy Young pick will be with us for the next few years
