  • Lifelock - a good buy for ID theft protection?

I am intrigued by their product and I'm looking for a program like this. I'd love your comments on this or other such programs.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

    Howdy.

Lifelock places continuous fraud alerts on your credit report. This means that any time an inquiry is made you need to be nofitfied. You can do this yourself for free.

They are also being sued by Experian.

I would not waste my money on them.

For $10.00 a month I will let them do it. and it makes me feel better. and if you lose your wallet you call them and they will call your banks and cc companies. I think it is a great service..

For me I would say that this is not a good value. Also Lifelock has been sued several time for fraud:

          http://abajournal.com/news/dared_by_...customers_sue/

CEO Todd Davis provides his social security number on the air, in newspapers and on billboards in an effort to prove the effectiveness of his company's identity protection services apparently may have backfired just a bit. It reportedly has resulted in 87 efforts to steal his ID, at least one of which was successful.
You can do most of the things that they do for yourself for free.

I've heard nothing but bad things about them.

We have used it for a year now and so far so good. They are very up front in telling you that everything they offer you can do for yourself. But frankly, I don't have the time.
