  • Possible to have AOL on the computer TWICE?

HI there techies. I was wondering of it's possible to have two versions of AOL on a computer?

I currently have version 9.5 .. And I want to have it on twice ... and I'd like to download version 9.1. I'm skittish about doing it just yet. And I was wondering if my PC will accept two versions of AOL .. or downloading 9.1 will end up merging or canceling out the version I already have on.

    Anyone got any tips, advice?

    Really appreciate any help.

Reason I want to have AOL on twice:
I have an AOL account .. but it's under someone else's master account.
I have since talked to AOL technicians and they said .... it's impossible to separate accounts from a Master account. So ... the email I've had for a decade, with important old emails ... I can't take it off the master account.

Now ... I want to create a brand new Master Account of my own. But by doing so ... I over-ride the old account .. which will make it disappear. So ... I want to have AOL on twice. (Keep the Old .. and have the New)

It would be a piece of cake if I had 2 computers. But I just have the one laptop.

Since I"m on version 9.5 ... if I try to download 9.1 .. will it merge/cancel version 9.5 in favor of 9.1 .. or can I have both on simultaneously?

Thank you for any help. Much appreciated.

Dear Peoplemover Fans, If you want to see a new attraction that at least mimics the 1967 Peoplemover in a future Tomorrowland remodel, you need to write to the powers-that-be, and let them know. If you don't - Then the next time Tomorrowland is remodeled, you will see a land barren of any "Peoplemover" type attraction.

Are you just wanting to use it for the AOL mail account, and nothing else? Just login to your mail box using the AOL webmail and forget their dedicated client completely.

But, if you are still using the AOL dial-up via modem, i would highly suggest downloading version 7. It was really the last version that worked properly and doesnt take over all your network settings with total crap.

You need to talk to another AOL tech. I had to separate a secondary email account to it's own master account for my boss once. It can be done. I'm guessing you just got a tech who didn't know enough, or who was lazy.

As for 2 versions, I believe it is possible but with the way aol gets it's tendrils into your computer I'm not sure that it's a good idea.
